Anyone up for Stephen Roche/Mallorca Cycling Trip in February?
I love the idea of cycling under the Spanish sun in one of Stephen Roche's cycling camps. I know some NYCC folks have joined together in the past, but Ive yet to see any posting for interested riders in 2014. Im looking into going in February 2014 and am happy to reach out and try and secure an NYCC discount, if there is interest. I believe they needed at least 10 riders last year for this to happen. Is anyone out there a veteran of the camp with advice on organizing, or is anyone out there oraganizing and I somehow missed the posting...? And of course anyone out there interested in joining me? http://www.stephenroche.com/

Sunday D&R - CANCELLED // Saturday OCA - MAYBE
Forecast for Saturday-Sunday freezing rain promises to make the D&R towpath a bumpy ice-fest.
Plan B would be to train up to Croton Harmon on Saturday, do a loop around Croton Reservoir and down the OCA with studded tires ... but I'm not going to post it as a listed ride. Message me if this interests.
Wortendyke Barn & Diner Ride - CANCELLED
Being fully confident of my rule #9 credentials and not feeling the need to add to them, I am cancelling the Wortendyke Barn & Diner Ride. Everyone else planning to ride tomorrow can thank me, since now it will be gorgeous all day.
Have an awesome day. Have some pancakes. Look at pictures of cool barns. It'll be pretty much the same!
Specialized and Cafe Roubaix publish video
Mike Sinyard of Specialized went to visit to Cochrane to see Dan Richter, owner of Cafe Roubaix and apologized: "...a big apology for this whole thing that went out of line. I accept full responsibility..."
I personally think that was well done by Mike Sinyard although I still profoundly disagree with the "legality" of owning as a trademark a geographic name, a certain word ("epic") etc.
Scarsdale Lunch ride Sunday, Dec. 15 - CANCELLED
I'm listing a B15 ride for Sunday, to Scarsdale for lunch. The ride begins and ends at 242/Broadway (end of the #1 line) (just past the Broadway Bridge). It's a clockwise loop with different routes out and back. Moderate hills, nothing major. By the way, I lied about the hills - there will be a couple of really obnoxious ones, in Riverdale (before we get properly warmed up) and in Yonkers.
ON EDIT:
CANCELLED FOR WEATHER. I like this ride so I'll reschedule ASAP.
Looking for a few good good (wo)men
Hello all,
In an effort to improve the infrastructure that support our club functions, we're taking on an effort to document the IT infrastructure that supports the various club functions. We're looking for one or two volunteers with experience documenting IT systems and processes. It isn't a very complex environment so I woulnd't expect it to take more than 10-20 (max) hours of work over the course of a few weeks.
What makes this club great? An example...
Several years ago, Harry Woods put together a group of rides scheduled for December and January called, "The Die Hards". Seeing a need for club rides in the cold and dreary days of winter, Harry created a solution. I went on some of these rides rides in the first year... I had a ball! Eventually, Harry asked if I'd be willing to co-lead (silly Harry!)...
We left the participation limits very high... at 50. And sure enough, many members joined us for one or more of these rides. Some of the rides were VERY well attended, perhaps TOO well attended. And the ride calendar (at least at the 'A' level) was pretty barren.
Good price on 26" studded tires
These are for dirt roads with snow-ice. You can get by with less for icey city commuting.
