Putnam Classic
Has anybody any input on this? They haven't posted the courses yet but Putnam looks pretty hilly.
I have hardly done a lick of cycling this year but would like to try the century. Seven weeks to go.

Shimano and SRAM Brifters
Can you repair/rebuild them? For Shimano, at least, the answer used to be no, but maybe that's changed?

Something for the ladies
Seeking young Brits . . . .
A friend in Cold Spring got a call. . . . if anyone with the prerequisite qualifications (young and British) is interested in the below, let me know and I'll put you in touch.
"Just got a call from this British reality TV show "Taking New York" looking for young brits in NY who are or would participate in the Putnam County Cycling Classic (Saturday, May 10th, 2014). They want to shoot some Brits in the PCC event. Not sure why but they asked.
Any help finding some bike riders in the 19 to 28 range of British persuasion would be bloody brilliant mate:

The streets appear to be soaking wet and the weather report says spotty drizzle. I'm going to spin class instead. I hope to see you next week.

TA's Tour de Staten Island on Sunday, April 13
Does anybody have any experience with this ride? Scenic or yecch? Flat or hilly? Generally a fun time or a zoo? Etc.?
is anybody in the C or B tranche -- say, up through B16 -- planning to sign up?
Finally, can anyone recommend a good but informal Italian restaurant to replenish all those spent calories after the ride?
Thanks for your input!
