Message Board
Thank you to Gihan Perera, Kym Blanchard, Colin Taber, and all the other Young Majors NYCC volunteers
This weekend, we celebrated the final ride for our first cohort of Young Majors NYCC cyclists. I want to thank all the volunteers who enabled the program, especially Gihan Perera, Kym Blanchard, and Colin Taber.
This is going to cause trouble:
Cycling is NOT better "Over There"
This disturbing video was posted on the BBC website yesterday:

What's really depressing is not the "accidents" pictured but the surveyed attitudes of UK auto drivers.
I expect it's no better here -- and it's frightening to learn what "they" really think of us when driving by....
self-directed bike tours?
Has anyone used a self-directed bike tour company in Europe or here in the states? Any recommendations or negative reviews would be welcome.
Thanks.

Stolen Bike
My bike was stolen from West 43rd Street outside of Manhattan Plaza Health Club on October 16. I have filed a report with the precinct 10, and a Det. Humann is handling my case. Nothing yet, likely nothing never. But if you have suggestions on what I may do, please send them. Thanks, Michelle
Philly Bike Expo
The Philly Bike Expo this past weekend was a good show, I wonder why no one mentioned it. Maybe you weren't aware of it. Bummer. I've been to it about a half-dozen times over the last decade or so and it has gotten bigger & bigger:

Anyway, instead of repeating the reviews and photos posted elsewhere, I'll just link the page from velocipede salon.

Zwift Weekly Rides Starting up again...
We will be restarting the weekly Tuesday evening Zwift rides November 8th at 6:00 PM. These rides include folks from the veteran organization, Team Red White and Blue. The rides use the rubber band feature, so no one gets dropped. We use the Discord app for real time voice communication. These rides utilize the meetup feature, so you do need an invite and need to accept the invite to join the ride(s). More details to follow, this is just a heads up for those who are interested.
Central Park West Drive just past 72nd Street transverse is closed for the Marathon thru 11/6.
As of today the section of the West Drive just past 72 transverse is closed for the Marathon. They are forcing cyclists and pedestrians to walk a section after TOG to the area further south.
72 Transverse is ridable. Truncated CP loops crossing at 72 Transverse are fine until Marathan set up is removed. It is a few days after Marathan according to CPC communications.
I have voted "no" on the proposed changes to the bylaws.
As far as I know, today is the first time the membership has been informed of the proposed changes, which are attached to the annual ballot.
There should have been a reasoned presentation to the membership way before now. At the very least, I'm surprised the Board hasn't sought to build political support for the amendments.
According to the revised bylaws, the Membership Director would no longer be required to "maintain a roster of Club members on the Club website." This requirement is proposed to be deleted from the present bylaws. The Membership Director would have other responsibilities, but not including maintaining the roster. As far as I can see, no officer would be responsible for maintaining the roster.
