NYCC's Annual Holiday Party - Wait List is now available
- What: NYCC's Holiday Cheer!
- When: Wednesday, December 9
- Time: 6:00 p.m.
Looks like the greenway is accessible again at 59th Street
It'd been closed off for construction for roughly a month, but looks to be open in the roadway and on the south sidewalk again today.
There's still certainly much construction happening on the north side and construction workers about, sometimes in construction vehicles on the roadway, but it wasn't a complete closure any more.
Cancelled - Putnam Trail, Wednesday 11/18, Riverdale YM/WHA,
WHEN: Wednesday, November 18th, 7:00PM
possible phishing email using the name "VeloSurance"
I received an email that begins "Thank you for purchasing a VeloSurance policy." I don't remember doing that.
The email goes on to request that I visit a website hosted at velosurance-dev DOT firmgrid DOT com. I never will.
WNYC-Objects in bike lane images
On WNYC this morning they talked with a cyclist who commuts everyday into Manhattan and records it with a time lapse camera. He submitted over 700 images of bike lane blockage together with other listener's over 3400 image so far.

Late-Posting For Sunday: B16 in Orange County, NY
Just got this listing up after having a difficult schedule all week... would be really nice to see some people on this ride! Beautiful riding territory upstate (but it's all paved, I swear! Well, maybe some hardpack patches. Nothing too funky.)
Nyack Road Closure
If you're planning to ride to Nyack during the week, read this notice re: Tappan Zee Bridge construction:
"This coming week, Tappan Zee Constructors, LLC (TZC) will install steel girders near the South Nyack shoreline, beginning the process of connecting the new bridges Rockland abutment to the already-installed support structures in the Hudson River. Safely accomplishing the work will require reducing River Road to one lane during weekdays between 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Flag persons will keep traffic moving by alternating the directional flow between north and south. TZC also will hold traffic on River Road once daily between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for up to 20 minutes every weekday next week to enable the safe movement of girders and other materials."

New wheels for my spare bike
I recently bought a spare bike to keep me going while my regular bike was being repaired. I've upgraded the bike with new cassette, new saddle and other things. Actually, for a spare bike, I'm liking it a lot.
Now I've had three spokes break and I believe that means I could use new wheels. The bike is a very nice 2014 Giant Defy Aluxx aluminum bike worth maybe $500-550. I don't want to overspend on the new wheels.
So what are some wheel models or types I should be looking at? The wheels should be reliable, accommodate 25mm tires, run fast enough for a B rider on an aluminum bike, be lightweight or at least average weight, and match my bike in terms of quality and price. Thanks.
