Rust stains on jersey?
Dear all,
The safety pins for the bib number on a recent event I did rusted (clearly not stainless steel!) and left tiny pin-sized rust stains on three of my light colored jerseys. They have been through the wash-- but not the dryer.
I googled how to get rid of rust stains, and the consensus seems to be acid, but application of a 1% and then 5% acetic acid solutions did nothing.
Does anyone have suggestions for getting rid of them? (The stains, not the jersys.) I'd be very grateful.
Thanks in advance,
-Erica

Cold enough for you?
"These are the times that try men's souls."
If you have reached that certain age in life where you contemplate lowering your standards, deep winter is an affirmation of point of view. With aging, your performance falls short of expectation. Logic leads you to accept diminished results. If you've done your homework, pushing harder only puts you in the red zone. It is why no one in their 50s competes in endurance sports against the overall field.
Winter dulls the keenest blade. Youth in its prime will slog it out with natural limits and come home with a bloody nose against the conditions of this day. More rational elders will reason out why not to subject oneself to nature's withering fire.
carbon bike refinishing
My 10-year-old Serotta, with carbon seatstays and fork, needs refinishing. Serotta and its last incarnation are gone. I'm told Calfee, in California, is THE place, but it would take a week each way just to ship it at ground rates, adding to the time my only road bike is gone. So I'd like to know what shop other members recommend for this job, preferrably one that's local, or failing that, not more than one or two days ground shipping away.

A stationary bike can be a wonderful thing
A bike without wheels is almost a zen concept. You don't actually go anywhere but there is a journey. And stronger for it all.
is anyone contemplating a ride tomorrow, even if its just a loop around the park?
just curious.
Yes, we're going - Sunday's Brooklyn Walk is on!
Sunday's Harriman Hike has been switched to a Brooklyn walk.
With ~2ºF forecast in the closest town, gusts to 15 mph (effectively -12ºF at the trailhead,) 6-7 miles in Harriman seems too dangerous. We're substituting a Brooklyn “Frozen Foot” walk.
ENY photos desperately needed
Hello all:
I'm helping Sam Lunetta develop marketing materials for ENY 2016. I'm desperately looking for photos from recent ENY outings. The ENY Facebook page has a few but I'm still woefully short. Specifically, I'm looking for photos of a cross section of happy riders -- older, younger, serious (spandex!), casual, on road bikes as well as other. I'm also looking for shots of volunteers at Sakura Park, on the road and waving riders on (with signs would be great!). Higher resolution images are preferred. Please get back to me as soon as possible if you have any photos that fit, however broadly, the description above.
Found - at the NYCC meeting on Tuesdsy night
Dear attendees of Tuesday's meeting,
If any of you know Alethia Athenea Puga Duenas, please notify her to email me ASAP at: [email protected]. I have a very important document of hers, which was found and handed to me at the meeting.
Thanks,
Eden
