Anyone working in the bicycle industry?
Dear all,
I’m very interested in learning more about the bicycle industry firsthand.
If there’s anyone at NYCC working in the bicycle industry, or if anyone could make an introduction, please let me know.
Thank you !
Best,
Moritz
Cunningham Park Greenway Reconstruction
There is construction going on in Cunningham Park. The greenway is fenced off from 199th Street to the bridge over Springfield Boulevard. We can get on the greenway at Springfield Boulevard using ramps on either side of the bridge.
The construction is supposed to be done this summer.
Although it is fenced off, there is a hole in the fence on 199th Street and one can definitely sneak through it and ride the existing greenway – but I would never suggest that you should break the rules. Behave yourselves!

Bathrooms in Woodlawn Playground Temporarily Closed
As of yesterday afternoon, both bathrooms in Woodlawn Playground on Van Cortlandt Park East are closed temporarily.
The "Temporarily Closed" signs gave no indication of why they were closed or when they would reopen. There was no evidence of maintenance or construction work either. Hopefully it's a brief closure.
bicycle maintenance presentations at last night's club meeting
We had two presenters discuss basic bike maintenance last night at Connolly's I was one and other was the service manager for several TREK stores in this area. His presentation was superb. I leave the evaluation of my presentation to others.
there were several questions about products for cleaning bikes, lubing chains etc. I didn't think of it last night but I suggest that it can be worthile to look up the "Material Data Safety Sheet" every manufacturer of chemical products must post with OSHA. They are easy to find on the internet, just enter the manuafturet's name and MSDS.
Cyclists Wanted for UCI Cycling World Champs in NYC Tartan Week Parade - 15th April
This is taking place in NYC on Saturday the 15thApril. If any cyclists are interested they will be required from approx.. 1pm – 4pm to take part in the parade along 6th Ave.
More information on the event can be found here: 25th ANNIVERSARY NYC TARTAN WEEK POST PARADE PARTY | NYC Tartan Week. It is basically a celebration of Scotland in NYC and as Scotland is hosting the Cycling World Champs in August we want to promote this event at the parade by having 10-13 cyclists walk with their bikes in the parade.

Cafe 181 (next to GWB path entrance) menu suggestion?
Hi everyone. My friend James owns Cafe 181on the corner of 181 and Cabrini, just down the street from the entrance to the GWB path. He is interested to cater to cyclist, and asks if there are particular menu items that cyclist prefer. Do you have advice?
Cafe 181, which we in the hood just call "181", is very bike friendly. In the summer there is outdoor (on a wide) sidewalk seating and the street box thing is there and in use now. James is happy to allow use of the bathrooms to riders. We've discussed him getting a bike rack, but honestly I dont know that it's needed.
if anyone has a suggestion or request please share.
thanks!
