Great news:  at the bottom of the Alpine hill, at the Alpine Marina, there is a new cafe with coffees, croissants, sandwiches, energy bars, gatorades, etc.  it is run by a really nice guy, Alex, who hopes to become part of our cycling world.  Nice pit stop if you don't feel like going all the way to the 9W Market.  Good clean bathrooms and water too!

What's the current condition of the South Country Trailway from Rte 87 (Elmsford) south to Van Cortland?  There was a forum thread in spring 2022 giving positive reports of the sections that had been repaved, but I haven't seen any reports saying it was all finished.

For those planning on the Berkshire Memorial Day Weekend please note that there is major road construction on Rtes. 41/23 (combined) from South Egremont up towards Great Barrington.  Consists of major new drainage sewer work and we noted in South Egremont that there is a major area of torn up pavement with some steel plates etc.

It is passable through South Egremont proper but just above town the road is reduced to one lane with a temporary traffic light to regulate the two-way flow.

We turned off there to connect yp to 71 heading west back to NYS so cannot be sure if the work extends all the way to Great Barrington.

Hello! My husband and I registered for the highlands gran fondo taking place on June 4th. It starts in Butler, NJ and as we don't have a car, we are looking on the best option to get there. If you are attending and are open to share a ride or if you have suggestions on transportation services for this type of events, please let me know. We usually ride starting from nyc or takin the train, but as butler is not close to a train station, we are a bit lost this time.
