...to paraphraze the famous/infamous National Lampoon cover.

Summer has arrived with all of its Canadian smog glory here in NYC.  Combing through a bunch of long delinquint links in my bookmarks folder it occurs to me that many of the bike-themed forums, and possibly this one, lay somewhat barren.  I used to go to Bikeforums and RoadBikeReview to find what was 'hot' in shopping deals.  Doesn't seem to be such a thing these days.

Barring 'social media' is there some place that tracks great bike/kit/gear deals and discounts?  Why isn't there some form of Deals Thread here at NYCC?

Ride Library Kudos

For almost 40 years now my wife and I have enjoyed having a “weekend house” in Columbia County in the Town of Copake.  For those of you who aren’t aware, Copake is just the “other side of the mountain” from Sheffield, MA

Consequently, while we rarely ride with NYCC “downstate” on most weekends – once a year the NYCC comes to us in the form of the Berkshire Memorial Day Weekend.

It was this year that I was so looking forward to one of the Saturday All-Class rides to Lakeville.  My plan was to join the Gravel Ride version as it would conveniently pass by within a mile or so of our house as it wended its way from MA to CT via NY!

SIG Badges, Leader Swag, Come on man!!!!

Submitted by Hudson Hartmann on Mon, 06/26/2023 - 4:09pm

I have been following the "SIG Badge" post, and thank you to the one Board member who responded, but I cannot help but feel that there are a few items that have been ignored recently. Obviously the first question - "Are we no longer giving SIG badges to graduates?"

That was never really answered in the post responses. Are we or aren't we? Pretty simple question if you ask me.

The second question I have is...It is almost July 2023 and the leaders from 2022 have heard nothing as far as ordering what they earned by leading rides last year

Rollers

Submitted by JumpMan on Mon, 06/26/2023 - 11:19am

I have a smart trainer at home.  Thinking to get rollers.  Any thoughts with regard to how much "features" are needed?  I see some offer things like fore-aft movement and bumpers (e.g inside ride e-motion rollers), does this really improve the experience?

thanks

CRCA Grant's Tomb Crit today

.
I think this might be the first (?) one in a few years with many NE teams traveling to race in NYC streets.

https://www.crca.net/grants-tomb-criterium

An NYCC note of interest on the list of "recent" champs (cat?). The 2018 top female racer is Masha S. - an A-Siggie from 2012(?) when she joined the club. That graduating class had a star studded list of many gifted riders.

New option! $250, double occupancy.

SIG Badges?

Are we no longer giving SIG badges to graduates?

I am seeing profiles of members who have graduated from recent SIG programs who don't have badges on their profiles.

I personally find seeing badges useful as it is a quick and easy way to gauge the experience/skill level of the rider.

What's going on here?

Thanks,
