Seamus Cullen
Sheamus Cullen, an NYCC member died last Sunday. There will be wake from 2pm to 5pm and from 7pm to 9pm Thursday June 7 at John Kritl Funeral home at 1297 First Avenue and a mass at 10am Friday June 8 at Saint Catherine's Church at 411 East 68th Street.
Sheamus Cullen
Sheamus Cullen, an NYCC member and my good friend, died Sunday.
Anyone reading this who knew Sheamus knows what a terrible, tragic loss this is.
I met Sheamus on a club ride in 2003. A livery cab on Fort Washington Avenue cut me off, and I was giving the driver a piece of my mind when Sheamus rolled up. He later said he wanted to make sure if there was going to be a fight, someone would have my back.
For nine years, I made the trip to Maine to do the MS ride with Sheamus. I have many fond memories of those early August weekends on New England roads with Sheamus, his brother, John, and other friends new and old.
I am lucky to have counted Sheamus as a friend.
Question about lane barriers in Central Park
In response to several incidents in Prospect Park, DOT installed signs and barriers in the park, which they claim are similar to those in Centrlal Park. The signs look similar, but the moveable barriers block the lane (sometimes they're in place, other times they're not. Is this the arrangement in Central Park? My recollection is that the barriers prevent pedestrians from walking into the road without looking. Are there any that actually block traffic lanes?
Thanks.
No ride requests on the Harlem Line till further notice
I thought this was up on the Message Board earlier, but could not find it on a quick search. It did appear on threads regarding the Berkshire Weekend.
Due to construction, we cannot reserve train passage for NYCC rides until further notice. If you do so on your own be mindful of possible bus service for sections, which are not compatible with our bikes, or being told you can't board the train. If you manage to get passage out, make sure you have an escape route to either the Hudson or New Haven line before dusk.
Now you know as much about this as I do.
