Does NYCC members still go to Mallorca?

Submitted by BigBear on Fri, 07/11/2025 - 11:24am

A LONG time ago, I joined the NYCC group that went to Mallorca for a week.  Is there still a NYCC group that goes to Mallorca each year?

Central Park Loop Rumble strips

Submitted by Lgoldenberg on Tue, 07/08/2025 - 4:54pm

Today the Transportation Department in its great wisdom has installed rumble strips at two crossings:

the light at the entrance for Shakespeare in the Park and the crossing at West 72nd street.  No signs to warn riders.

Trying to gage interest in gravel rides, but at a C12-14 pace.

Submitted by mhsimkin on Sat, 06/28/2025 - 2:40pm
I am trying to gage if there is interest with attempting gravel rides for the C riders, with the following caveats:

(1) participants have gravel/all-road bikes.
(2) must be self-sufficient (chage tires, fix minor mechanicals, carry enough water/food for several hours).
(3) the standard NYCC elevation gain per mile and distance between pit stops will not apply.

The routes would either be routes used by the D rides or the Gravel NY Strava group.

Please let me know your thoughts and interests.

Thanks.

New Harlem River bike path to be completed in 2025

Submitted by JFinder on Thu, 06/26/2025 - 7:54pm

From the Riverdale Press in May or June. https://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/pr2025/nyc-dot-begins-constructing-harlem-river.shtml

Looks like it will run along the east side of the river, linking up some other paths that are already there. Here's another article: https://www.6sqft.com/7-mile-harlem-river-greenway-expansion-connects-randalls-island-to-van-cortlandt-park/

The Riverdale Press dead tree edition has an article in the June 26, 2025 issue, but I can't find it on line.
