Hydraulic Disc brake issue

Submitted by pffddspc on Fri, 01/17/2025 - 8:08pm

I was in an accident and had to replace a brake caliper.  Ever since, I need to replace the hydraulic brake fluid on a regular basis, for which I go to a bike shop.  I either need a bike shop that can figure out how to fix it once and for all, find a class to teach me how to deal with hydraulic disc brakes so that I might maintenance the problem, or sell the bike to a handier person than myself.  A fourth option is to replace with mechanical disc brake set-up.  Any suggestions?

The weather gods strike again.  Sorry to cancel.  I'll relist it soon.

Sad News - - passing of member Alfredo Garcia

Submitted by SRodetis on Fri, 01/17/2025 - 9:50am

Alfredo passed away on Monday, and there's an open visitation in Manhattan this Sunday afternoon.

He was a member of both NYCC and 5BBC, participated in many bike related volunteer activities, and was a consumate gentleman and nice person - - a gentle and kind soul.

Many may recall him from (what used to be) NYCC's annual pre-Marathon Ride.

Details are on 5BBC website

2025 getting off to a lousy start RIP two friends . . .

Ugh, I found out through the 5BBC that Peter

Morales passed away I believe on New Years Eve.

Peter, a CPA, did the club's tax returns for many

years In addition to being a regular on B rides

(later C rides) for many years. A Brooklyn resident

Peter often did the Berkshires (my one-time roommate)

and West Point weekends.

And now I learn that Alfredo Garcia has just died.

Alfredo, like Peter, was a former Board Member

and in the 2000s organized the pre-NYC Marathon

Ride (before it got out of control and has subsequently

been CXLD)

Two fine gentleman and most excellent cycling companions.

RIP Peter & Alfredo
