Trying to gage interest in gravel rides, but at a C12-14 pace.

I am trying to gage if there is interest with attempting gravel rides for the C riders, with the following caveats:

(1) participants have gravel/all-road bikes.
(2) must be self-sufficient (chage tires, fix minor mechanicals, carry enough water/food for several hours).
(3) the standard NYCC elevation gain per mile and distance between pit stops will not apply.

The routes would either be routes used by the D rides or the Gravel NY Strava group.

Please let me know your thoughts and interests.

Thanks.

New Harlem River bike path to be completed in 2025

Submitted by JFinder on Thu, 06/26/2025 - 7:54pm

From the Riverdale Press in May or June. https://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/pr2025/nyc-dot-begins-constructing-harlem-river.shtml

Looks like it will run along the east side of the river, linking up some other paths that are already there. Here's another article: https://www.6sqft.com/7-mile-harlem-river-greenway-expansion-connects-randalls-island-to-van-cortlandt-park/

The Riverdale Press dead tree edition has an article in the June 26, 2025 issue, but I can't find it on line.

My local UES digital news source, Patch, reported today:

"The most common activities that have led to lightning strike deaths in the United States include swimming, going to the beach, fishing, and riding a bicycle or motorcycle in a thunderstorm, according to the Lightning Safety Council."

...Army now!

Well not quite.

But a special thanks to Michael Diener and all the various Ride Leaders for corraling a huge herd of NYCC''ers into and through the West Point campus.

My wife, Theresa (C14) and I (B17) had a great time as did so many others on this special "all-class" Club ride!

Desperately seeking Selle San Marco

Submitted by HBorgeson on Fri, 06/13/2025 - 7:54pm

One of the rails just broke off my yellow Selle San Marco Rolls seat and fell to the ground right in the middle of Third Avenue. It was a beauty on my gold Soma commuter bike aka the Golden Eagle and also on my Raleigh "Red Chariot" before than. If anyone knows of a local shop that carries this kind of thing, please be in touch.
