Just a general note that (until the next snow storm) main and secondary roads in Westchester are very bikeable.

Recommendations for Alaska Biking

Submitted by bandy711 on Sun, 01/30/2011 - 3:53pm

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for Biking tours/Groups in Alaska. I'm thinking of going in late summer.

Thanks!

Chris

I'm looking to do a kidback conversion for our Bike Friday tandem this late spring/summer, and I think the main thing I need in terms of hardware is a pair of crank shorteners.

Before I buy them full retail, anyone have a used pair kicking around? This is the model I have in mind (the one for wider cranks): http://www.niagaracycle.com/product_info.php?products_id=405644

Thanks!
Matt

C bagel ride cancelled

I might have taken chances on conditions left over from the snow last Tuesday but they say more snow showers this afternoon. I need to find a place that delivers bagels.

Die Hards: Bugging to ride, meeting at the boathouse

Submitted by HWoods on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 9:03pm

It's the last saturday in january and that means the last Die Hard ride of the winter. We've had to cancel the last 2 weeks due to ice. It's time for a meaningless gesture. We're riding tomorrow no matter what.

Yes, it's snowing tonight and will be sloppy tomorrow. Yes, we've been targeted in the park by 5-0.

Screw it. Meeting at the Boathouse at 9am for laps on the MTB. Will go only as fast as conditions allow. If you want to join, be really careful getting to and from the park.

ps; look for "wake up and smell the sig" on the ride listing page every saturday in february starting next week.

Cycling in/around Scottsdale AZ

Submitted by DHudes on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 2:11pm

I'm going to Arizona with my wife this Feb. 9th. She's going to a medical conference on Thursday all day and into the evening as well as half a day Friday so I have official wife permission to disappear on a bicycle and explore the area. Any suggestions welcome. I originally thought that with the huge reserves / parks in the general area I would rent a mountain bike and try mountain biking but I haven't found any information on routes whereas I've found several road biking clubs and their routes (there is a dirt path along the Arizona canal but that doesn't appeal; running through urban area you have the worst of off-road and on-road in one).
