B-Sig sign up not working

Submitted by Sree on Wed, 02/02/2011 - 12:49pm

Am an NYCC member and find that I am unable to do the sign up online though I am logged into my account. The webpage says that the 2011 B-sig signup is available to me but when I click on it, I am taken to the B-sig info page where there is no place to sign up. Does anyone know what I need to do?

Tried emailing the B-Sig contact email on the page - [email protected] - but my email bounced back saying the contact does not exist!

Thanks,
Sree

Help with Learning to bike

Submitted by edtwist on Tue, 02/01/2011 - 4:16pm

Hi Everyone,

I'm in my 20's and would love to learn how to bike. Are there any resources in the NY area that help people like me to get started during this time of year?

Thank you!
I hope to join some the events soon.

Very best,
Marina

Interesting 'long' read on rights to the road in Ohio

"...The first issue--whether cyclists must obey the orders of law enforcement officers--was central to the "motion to dismiss" hearings for Tony and Ryan. As the Court held, if the cyclist hasn't broken a traffic law, then the cyclist can't be lawfully arrested, and the order to pull over is itself unlawful. Therefore, if the order is unlawful, the cyclist is not required to obey the order, and can't be arrested for failure to comply. Now, this is the law in Ohio, but it is based on 4th Amendment jurisprudence, so the jurisprudence in other states should be similar. If somebody knows of contradictory 4th Amendment jurisprudence in another state, please let me know...."

FS: RealAxiom V4 trainer

Submitted by ICho on Mon, 01/31/2011 - 10:21pm

Hi guys,

I am selling a used RealAxiom V4 trainer. (Yes, even with this weather outside.) It was lightly used last season but hasn't been used at all this year.

For those who aren't familiar with this, it's a "virtual reality" trainer that you hook up to a computer monitor. You can create your own workouts (increasing/decreasing resistance), pick from some of the pre-programmed workouts, or use a virtual course. (I have two courses: the Etape du Tour course in Limoges and the World Road Race course in Verona.) When you ride the virtual course, the trainer automatically adjusts resistance based on whether you're going up or down a hill, etc.

Here's a review of the unit:
