First time 100 mile Rider Seeking Group to Join for the Century Ride

Submitted by CAttwell on Mon, 09/19/2011 - 3:56pm

Hello,

This is my first 100 mile ride and I was wondering if there are any groups forming I could join that are similar levels/pace. I have done long rides before but this is my longest and I would like to be with others who are also seeking to share a similar experience.

Thank you!

Chap

Hi All,

Evening Central Park Laps

Submitted by ZBernstein on Sun, 09/18/2011 - 6:27pm

Does anyone else like to ride at night?  I like to do 2 laps at a 20-21 mph pace starting around 7:00-8:00, and think it'd be nice to go with two or three other people.  I prefer not to pace line in CP since every minute or so you have to slow down or swerve for some or another reason, but going with a little group to help each other keep the pace up and maybe chitchat a little would be great.

I'm going tonight at 8:00, so if anyone interested reads this in time, write back and we'll work out a meeting point.  If not tonight, I do this pretty regularly.

Anyone riding the Twin Lights Century next Sunday (Sept 25th)?

Submitted by abrowning on Sun, 09/18/2011 - 4:08pm

Bill and I decided to ride, to get in another century this season.  We're looking for people who would want to ride with us in a rotating paceline for the 100 miles.

The route is basically flat, easy to keep up speed.  Last year we avg'd 18 mph for the 100.

Please respond to this post or email me separately.

Thanks in advance

Bicycle Sunday, Blue Hill ride notes

Submitted by MHiller on Sat, 09/17/2011 - 5:59pm

This is on as planned. Departure from Grant's Tomb will happen as promptly after 8:30 AM as we can manage, and we will have a secondary meetup stop at the Woodlawn 4 train station (on Jerome a bit north of East 213th) at 9:15, for a few riders who have already reached out to me about it. Which is to say, don't casually switch to the Woodlawn meetup if you haven't already reached out. Also, we'll be collecting one more rider on the route in Yonkers.
