Mansion on the hill between Piermont and Nyack

Submitted by nycc_oldtimer on Sat, 10/01/2011 - 6:55pm

Does anyone have any information on the old mansion that sits on the left of the road between Piermont and Nyack? I remember is was rust colored and had a waterfall with lots of land around it.

www.bikely.com

Everyone else probably knows all about this, but I just found www.bikely.com, which lists bicycle routes submitted by members, I believe all over the world(!). I checked it initially for a route from the GW Bridge south along the NJ waterfront and there were two listed, one from the bridge to Hoboken and the second from Hoboken to Staten Island. They list maps as well as "cue sheet" directions.

Also looked for a route near Candlewood Lake in Connecticut and there were two....

Looks like a good resource.

Interested in learning if anyone else had had experience with the site, their directions, etc..

Looking for rider Lee

Submitted by Cindy The Red on Sat, 10/01/2011 - 1:56pm

I am looking for a cyclist I met last Monday in Oregon.  His first name is Lee and he is from the Albany area.  He impressed me with his inspiring personal story as he is a cyclist, a pilot, and a lung cancer survivor.  If anyone knows this gentleman please pass on my contact information to him.  He asked me for it last week and I was too shy to give it to him then.

My name is Cindy Sabean  email: [email protected].

Thanks!

Hate speech?

Last Sunday morning at 9:35 I was running by the Met Museum inside the NYRR race (I wasn't actually in the race/no number...).  A woman ran across the East Drive, trying to avoid bikers, etc.  It all happened very fast, but a man, older – 60’s?, wearing a NYCC Statue of Liberty jersey screamed at her, as he swerved out of the way, trying not to hit her.  A moment passed, and then he screamed as loud as he could at her, "C*NT."

East Side Greenway

The NY Times had an article yesterday about the possibility of completing the Greenway on the East Side. Could happen, could take a while:
