River Road this time of year

Submitted by Cyclegalnycc on Wed, 10/26/2011 - 2:05pm

If you can get out in the next week to ride River Rd, it is SPECTACULAR!  Just from yesterday to today, the colors have gotten more vibrant.  I had to stop three times just to take some phone pics.  In another few days, maybe a week, is when it'll look like Oz, with the yellow-leaf road instead of bricks, usually off to both sides.  THIS is why I love riding...it's the journey more than the destination. (Though the blondie at the 9W market was deLISH!)

Voting Issues - Access denied

Submitted by dortsman on Wed, 10/26/2011 - 9:21am

I've seen a few reports about members having difficulty voting.  Specifically, they are getting an 'Access denied' message.

Please note...You must be logged into the site to access the ballot.  Additionally, your membership must paid up.  So, if either of those conditions are not met...you will not be able to access the ballot.

Happy Voting.

Tappan Zee Hudson River Crossing Project

Submitted by CWaaser on Tue, 10/25/2011 - 10:10pm

This evening, NYCC President Ellen Jaffe and I went to Tarrytown to attend a presentation by the NY State DOT on the "scoping" phase of the Tappan Zee Hudson River Crossing Project (replacing the current Tappan Zee Bridge).  This phase determines the scope of the project and what will be included in the environmental impact study.  There are at least two public comment periods in the upcoming months.

We're pleased to report the following:

1. The project is being fast-tracked by the Federal Highway Administration.  The timeline has the new bridge being completed by 2017.

Rides that Start and End in the "Outer Boroughs"

Submitted by BGillespie on Tue, 10/25/2011 - 6:41pm

I live in Bayside, Queens and have been a member of NYCC for the past year.  I have noticed that most NYCC rides start and end in Manhattan, which is extremely convenient for members that live in Manhattan, but somewhat inconvenient for members that live in the "Outer Boroughs".  Since the name of our club is the "New York" Cycling Club and not the "Manhattan" Cycling Club, I was wondering if there was any interest in expanding the ride schedule to include more rides that start and end in the Outer Boroughs.  The 5 Boro Bike Club organizes many rides along the North Shore of Long Island, which start and end at Cunningham Park in Fresh Meadows, Queens.  I would love it if our club could offer similar rides and wou

The Argus Cycle Tour on March 12th, 2012

Submitted by RLevin on Tue, 10/25/2011 - 2:40pm

I have registered and like Ellen and Linda going to Mallorca I would love to ride with a NYCC team. See International entrants http://www.cycletour.co.za/

In fact Ellen and Linda and anyone else going to Mallorca can just scoot on down to Cape Town after the Stephen Roche training camp and be in perfect condition for the ride 2 weeks later. If you go to Mallorca you are already halfway there. South African Airways only charges a $25 handling fee for bicycles entered in the Argus.

Be one of only 31,000 participants!
