Good signs!

An NPR article shows that in all but two of the 27 countries in the EU, bikes are outselling cars, sometimes by a vast margin. At the end, also note that while US car levels are coming back up, bike sales are "solid" and younger people aren't maintaining the car frenzy of previous generations.

Some people think Lance has been treated unfairly. . . . .

"I think it is just terrible and disgusting how everyone has treated Lance Armstrong, especially after what he achieved, winning seven Tour de France races while on drugs.  When I was on drugs, I couldn’t even find my bike”. . . .

Info needed, bike on NYC bus

Submitted by Ernest on Thu, 10/24/2013 - 9:43pm

I got a flat on my commute today. No biggie I'm thinking; I've fixed dozens of flats. Checked my gear; no patch kit. Fine, that's why you're supposed to carry a spare tube. Pulled out the pump, not working. Ok, there's a gas station over there. Used their air hose, realized my tube still had a hole from my last flat. Long story short; I ended up taking the A train to 42nd st. and 8th av. I made the free transfer on the M42 bus to 1st av. It was the new hybrid bus that has a low step. As soon as I enter I see something equivalent to a small counter top next to the first seat(opposite the driver). There there were some bags laying there already. There was plenty of room; so I placed my folded Brompton next to the bags.

GW Bridge South Bike Path Closures

Submitted by deloucal08 on Thu, 10/24/2013 - 12:31pm

Hi All,

I just read confliciting information regarding the construction start date for the GW Bridge bike path.  I've heard 2014 and I read 2015 in a recent article from the NJ Bike & Walk Coalition. Does anyone know what the correct date is?

Thanks!

Anyone know what the conditions are like right now?  Last time I rode it over the summer it was "closed" to cars (although one or two passed us on the "closed" portion) and it was ridable, though with a few sections of enormous pot holes where you had to walk your bike.  Still ridable?
