Volta a Catalunya- SPOILER ALERT!!
Nice article in today's NYT about Teejay's stage win!
(no, that's not rain dripping on ya... it's sarcasm... in the same newspaper, there's a very nice [and much longer] article about a kid from Kentucky named Jon Hood who will see no court time in the NCAA tourney... no, he's not injured, it's just that as a player who is not good enough to play, he's a better story than Van Garderen... evidently)
good grief, i need to stop reading the sports pages and just RIDE!!!
Volunteers Wanted - InTandem
In Tandem is a nonprofit organization, not affiliated with NYCC, devoted to providing access to tandem biking for the visually impaired or otherwise disabled folks. If you are curious about riding tandem and/or want to provide someone with the excitement of riding a bike who can't experience it alone, here's your opportunity. www.intandembike.org
They meet at the Ramble Shed where the bikes are stored. So, it's really convenient.
I became aware of them because the SIG meets in the same area. Contact them through their site. I don't have anymore information to share. I just thought they provided an experience for their clients that some NYCC members would enjoy supporting.

Ride to Montauk 150
Anyone else doing the 150 ride to Montauk?
B16 Thursday 6am CP laps canceled
Unbelievable that an entire month could be so cold. Call me a wimp, but I have to cancel tomorrow's ride - a 14 degree wind chill just doesn't sound like fun. I hope to see you next week when my laps will start at 5:45am.
Not sure if anyone here is interested in the 5 boro bike ride but my friend's charity is looking for riders...
Here's the info...

Cycling in Cape Town, South Africa?
Traveling to South Africa for work, and I'd like to do some biking in Cape Town. Can anyone recommend a good bike club and/or rental shop? Seems to be quite a few options.
Protect the Palisades- let LG know your thoughts
LG Electronics is planning to build an 143 foot office tower, approximately 12-14 stories, that will rise above the tree line of the Palisades, as seen from New York and parts of New Jersey. Four former governors of New Jersey express their opposition in an Op-Ed piece in the March 25, 2014 New York Times.

The mayors of six Bergen County towns that neighbor the Englewood Cliffs site have previously opposed this project as one that threatens the nationally significant integrity of the Palisades.
Bike Fit App
I've had really good professional fits for both my triathlon bike and road bike. I can say it is well spent money. However, I recently came across a review for a new app called "Bike Fast Fit" which I think may be a good quick and dirty method of helping with fit; if anything a fun way to spend an hour. Here is a good review http://www.dcrainmaker.com/
Cycling in the Winter Olympic Games?
In addition to taking pressure off the Summer Games schedule, it would give me something, personally more interesting than figure skating, to watch... though I am quite certain that NBC would screw it up somehow.
