Qazi's alleged intention in New York, apparently known to federal authorities, was "to obtain a job, and he was looking for a job in order to support himself and to be able to buy explosives so he could build an explosive." He needed money because his sole source of support, other than trading bikes on Craigslist, was his taxi driver brother.

Seeking commuter bike model advise

Submitted by Joao on Mon, 04/28/2014 - 5:05pm

I'm recovering from a broken knee, and just now I'm starting to be able to spin my pedals once again.  Now I'm looking for a "dream' commuter bike that's easier to pedal over bridges than my fixed-gear, and easier to get in subways and narrow office entrances than my recumbents.

My dream commuter consists of:

 - Disk brakes
 - Belt drive
 - Internal hub gearing with enough range to cruise along at a decent pace and climb the Manhattan Bridge with a weakened knee
 - Fenders
 - Hub-dynamo lighting up front
 - Rear rack or at least the mounts to add one
 - Doesn't cost as much as a mortgage payment
