If this was you, can you please adjust your approach to riding the GWB?

Submitted by MHiller on Sun, 04/19/2015 - 11:19am

Lately I've noticed there seems to be a certain class of roadie that gets offended if I pull left to pass on the GWB and don't immediately swerve the bike back over to the right when I'm done. And don't maintain the rightmost possible line thereafter, even if there's adequate passing room without. If I'm out on my tandem especially, yeah, it's a slightly wide bike, but it's also best not to steer the tandem too dramatically, so...

Yesterday this took the form of a faster roadie barking something like "Move to your right!" at us.

Has anyone been on Hardenburgh or Homans recently

Submitted by GRoss on Sat, 04/18/2015 - 7:37pm

Today I took a small group to Piermont and used Hickory to get from Andersn to County Road/Piermont Road. It was pretty torn up for most of its length.

Has anyone been on Hardenburgh or Homans recently and knows their condition between Anderson and County Road?

They may be similar; it's been a tough winter.

C-Ride to Piermont Saturday April 18

Submitted by GRoss on Fri, 04/17/2015 - 2:44pm

I just posted a C-13 ride to Piermont to fill the gap left when Ken Weissman had to cancel his ride. This is a simple, not fast, no-drop ride with only one large hill (Walnut on the way home). Sign up if you wish, or just show up at Eleanor at 9:00 AM tomorrow morning. I will be there with or without other riders.

The reason I chose Piermont is I know how to get there and back.

Memorial Ride for our very own

Submitted by CGuzzetta on Fri, 04/17/2015 - 2:42pm

Hindy Schachter and Christy Guzzetta are leading an All Class memorial ride Sunday, 4/19.  We will be taking part in the Ghost Ride remembering those who lost their lives on the streets of New York City in 2014.  Two such people are particularly dear to us, Irving Schachter and Jill Tarlov.  We hope you will join us on this day of remembrance.  Regardless of whether you knew Irv or you knew Jill, their passing hits close to home.  Their providence could have been any one of our fate, of our family’s, of our friends’.  According to Ghost Ride, 144 pedestrians lost their lives in a fatality involving a motor vehicle on the streets of New York City in 2014, at least 20 cyclists lost their lives while riding their bike.

Riverdale (Bronx) Hudson River Greenway

Submitted by jack Lehnert on Fri, 04/17/2015 - 6:33am

The proposed Bronx Hudson River Greenway could eventually become an all river bike/ped link between the Manhattan Hudson River Greenway and Westchester and beyond.  Please come out and support the efforts to make a Riverdale Hudson River Greenway a reality this Sunday between 1PM and 3PM at the Metro North Riverdale train station.  See the KRVC link for details.

Half Marathon takes over Central Park on Sunday 4/19

Submitted by Katie Irizarry on Thu, 04/16/2015 - 12:12pm

Hi All,

I just wanted to let you all know that there is a women's half marathon taking place in Central Park on Sunday 4/19.

I believe that the start time is 8:00am. NYRR have given the runners a 4 hour race limit, though I'm sure the chaos will be over well before 4 hours.

Happy riding!

Selling Glenn's Ride to Montauk ticket - $150

Submitted by JRubin on Thu, 04/16/2015 - 12:03pm

I am signed up for Glenn's Ride to Montauk on May 16, 2015, but I can't do it. Not an NYCC club ride. This is a fully supported ride. I payed $200, but for $150 cash or check, you get to ride in my place (fully legit). This includes transportation from and to Manhattan for you and your bike. I signed up for day before bike drop off, and day after bike pickup, but I believe you can change those details. You can choose the 75 or 100 mile route when you drop off your bike.
