Professional driver wishes violence against cyclists - alert his employer?

Submitted by isaacb on Tue, 07/07/2015 - 7:04am

I'm following a post on Facebook promoting a new cycling gadget. Among the comments are a few posters who are expressing rabid hate toward cyclists. One of them has gone as far as posting a YouTube of a cyclist getting hit by a truck and citing it as "nice...for all you a***oles". Based on his profile, it's apparent that he drives for one of the major bus companies. Any suggestions on how to bring his dangerous attitudes to the attention of his employer? I've taken screenshots of his posts and have considered wriring a letter to his company, CC to the League of American Bicyclists. Any thoughts or ideas?

Bike Friday all aboard Amtrak

Later this week, I'm taking my Bike Friday on a Northeast Corridor train from Penn Station. Any tips for getting to the track amid the hordes, stowing the bike, etc.?

Thanks,

Hannah

Latest Federal Transportation Act

Here's an analysis of the federal transportation act now working its way through Congress.  You can guess how bicycle unfriendly it was when first introduced - its acronym is "The DRIVE Act."  Amendments have made it more friendly.

Dana Hudes, an NYCC member, has been hospitalized for the last two weeks with serious head trauma after crashing on a ride.  Dana was apparently riding solo and was discovered at the side of the road, unconscious, by local police.  Details are limited, but the injuries are rather serious – he is in a coma at Hackensack Hospital in NJ.

Metro North

Submitted by mgeller1 on Mon, 07/06/2015 - 7:45am

Hoping to confirm this. Bikes are not just allowed on weekends but anytime that is off-peak, which for a New Yorker City resident would be a.m. weekday train heading North to Pougkeepsie or Coming Home from Pougkeepsie in the p.m.
Hoping to do another ride out by New Paltz and like the fact that there's an earlier train heading out than on the weekends.  Anybody done this? I'd hate to get stuck.
