Backroads or Bicycle Adventures
I am planning on cycling the Banff-Jasper route with either Bicycle Adventures or Backroads in August. They have similar trips scheduled; Bicycle Adventures is slightly less expensive. Does anyone have any thoughts about the difference between the two companies in general, please, or - for that route specifically if anyone has cycled on that trip? Are there any other companies I should also look at? Any thoughts much appreciated. [I have posted this same question on the Club Facebook page, FYI]

Irv Schacter piece in July 3 Wall St Journal page A15--photo doesn't look like Irv to me
I don't remember Irv ever smoking a pipe, with glasses, etc. Lots of mention of NYCC--July 5 tribute, Christy quote, etc. Anyway, I consider Irv and Hindy good NYCC friends and he is missed!

Question about Seven Lakes Dr intersection to Bear Mountain(from Harriman Direction not 9W)
I posed this on the facebook page, but posting here as well. Apparently it's been known that crossing with a bike here is illegal, yet the NYCC does rides that use this as a crossing. On the facebook page, is yet another example of cyclists getting tickets.
I know the NYCC is very good about advising its members to honor the traffic rules around Piermont with regard to the traffic light there, and the single file rule. The club is also good about advising members to follow the rules of Central Park and honor the speed limit restrictions etc. Why does the club lead rides from Seven Lakes to Bear Mountain coming from the west if the intersection is not legal for cylists to cross on?
