Kudos to two great new leaders!!
This weekend’s B15 ride from PKeepsie to Gt Barrington and Sheffield was capably led by two new recruits to the Club’s ranks of ride leaders.
In their initial outing(s) as leaders, Stephanie Sulzer and Leora Rosenberg brought us safely up hill and down dale to the Berkshires with a firm but gentle hand, wisely dropping the pace in the heat of the day and even pacelining our sorry a**es on some of the long country roads. It was a first class performance, and we should hope to see more of them at the front of the line in the months ahead.

The End of the Osborn from Garrison, as we know it, for some time
This is for hikers, trail runners, cyclocrossers and mountain bikers.
There is a trail that loops over the ridges on the eastern side of the Hudson between Garrison and Manitou that connects to the AT and is maintained for public use. Users who know it, return more than occasionally. It is now unpassible short of a determined effort, a lot of time, and a lot of scratched skin. If you ever tried to get through a slide on River Road, you know how difficult passage is. This destruction goes on and on. But once beyond the direct site, all is pretty much as it was before the event.

New Pedestrian Crossing Barricades up in Prospect Park
Went for a ride this evening in Prospect Park and saw 2 new sets of pedestrian crossing barricades on the West Drive. One is located near the 9th Street/Band Shell, the other one is located at the bottom of the West Drive Hill. There are no warnings that there is a pedestrian crossing barricade/bottleneck until you get to 50 feet of them. This is definitely an issue with the one located at the bottom of the West Drive Hill. These signs are also not self illuminated. They should use solar powered lights to illuminate these signs and barricades for riders who ride at night and at dawn. The photos below are from the pedestrian crossing barricades located near 9th Street/Band Shell.
