Gran Fondo NY, Sunday, May 20th, Hudson Terrace and Road Closure Information
Following is information on closed roads and how to navigate around the closure of Hudson Terrace during the Gran Fondo New York on Sunday, May 20th. I have received this information from Uli Fluhme—co-founder and co-organizer of the event.
First, the south sidewalk of the GWB is not affected in any way by the GF—and is open all day to everyone.
However, all of Hudson Terrace is closed to cyclists and vehicles both directions all day from the exit of the GWB to Palisades Avenue. Also, Henry Hudson Drive (River Road) is closed until 5pm.
To get around the closure of Hudson Terrace:
AFTER 8:00AM, take Bruce Reynolds Blvd to Lemoine Avenue/9W and proceed north.

Looking for ride to Berkshires
Hi!
Does anyone have room in their car for my bike, a weekend bag & I? I’m looking for a ride to the Berkshires, ideally leaving post 3 pm on Fri. 25th. I bake good cookies and am happy to chip in for gas $! I’m in Queens but could meet up in the city. For those who don’t know me I’m a co-leader for C4’s with Paul.
Thank you,
Shannon

7 Lakes Drive impasse at the PIP
There was a police car at the Mtn Circle this afternoon. Coming from Rt 6 west (verboten!) I did not want a confrontation and ordered to divert to Cedar Flats/Mott Farm, 9W north to get to Peekskill. Granted we were on mountain bikes. We diverted to 7 Lakes Drive south, taking the first left onto the 1779 Trail going east and south.
Are There Any Cyclist Hangouts in Haverstraw?
I know of the old reliables from the GW bridge north to Nyack - Strictly, 9w Market, Bunberry, Runcible Spoon - but north of the Spoon my knowledge drops off. Are there any cyclist hangouts in Haverstraw where one can stop, rest, use the bathroom, eat and drink a bit, and not worry about having to lock one's bike? How about north of Haverstraw, to Jones Point? (I'm slowly working my way up to Bear. I've not been at this for long.)
7 Lakes and moon craters
Just in case folks were planning to descend 7 Lakes heading north from Tiorati Circle, you should know that inclement winter conditions have pitted the road with gargantuan craters. Since you may be descending at 30mph, this can be especially treacherous, especially since some of the less perspicuous calderas are lurking near the center of the road toward the end of the descent.
(Not that anyone would illegally cross the highway afterwards to get to Bear.)
