More Good News

I rode the Joseph P. Clarke Rail Trail today and it is now complete all the way up to Blauvelt. (It starts at Oak Tree Rd. between Piermont Rd./Rte. 340 and Rte. 303.) There are still signs at Greenbush Rd, where the trail used to end that says the new section is closed, but it is in fact open and really lovely. When you get to the new end at Western Highway in Blauvelt, just make a left on the sidewalk to get to the pizza place (which also has pasta, salads & wraps) with plenty of seating both inside & out, and Louie's Ice Cream Stand just past the pizza place (with plenty of outside seating).

Referral to Sloan Kettering/John Hopkins/Mayo?

I already asked our illustrious New Paltz C-ride leader Dr Jay-Zee about this, but since the NYCC seems to have a quite a few peeps in the medical field, I thought I'd ask here.

Training Rollers -- Amazingly Fun Training Tool.

Those who've tried them can attest -- training rollers are an amazingly fun way to really get fit and master cadence and balance.  Despite how it may appear, surprisingly easy to get used to too.

I think one is available on the Marketplace Forum   ;)

Visitor Looking for Recommendations!

Submitted by manthonee on Tue, 05/22/2018 - 2:24am

Dear fellow Cyclists,

I will be visiting NCY June 7th-23rd and would really like to fit a ride in. I will not have a bike with me, so I am looking for recommendations for where I can rent a road bike. I can already see a number of rides I could join...the newcomers' one on Sat 9th being ideal - but not sure if I can sort a bike for 8:45am (unless anyone knows a shop open early?).

I'll be bringing all the rest of my kit with me, just need the bike and someone to ride with :-)

Regards,

Matthew Anthony

NYCCers in Gran Fondo: Did anyone from our racing team ride it? If so...

Submitted by RRosenthal on Sun, 05/20/2018 - 9:26pm

I know the GFNY is not bike racing; nevertheless, did anyone from the NYCC racing team ride it? (I eschew "compete.") If so, who and how did they do? I know of two club members in their 60s who rode it. Who else did and how did you do?
