Best recommendations for 50mile or under rides
Hi guys, I am new to road cycling and I want to go on a few rides over the coming weeks. I am looking for a good ride to start with. Lots of people have recommended the 9W to Nyack as this is a very popular ride. Just wondering if anybody had any other recommendations?
Thanks!
Brand New
Hi All,
I’m new to the club, though have been riding on my own in Central Park and on the Westside Highway for a little under a year. I’d like to meet other cyclists - preferably late 20s or early 30s - but I’m open to anything. Any tips on starting out with group rides? I tend to ride faster than 12 mph though will at least start with a C ride.
looking forward to an active summer!
Alex
A very necessary, very public "thank you" to Lesse Castleberry.
I always hope those on my ride are endowed with some self-sufficiency and initiative. In the arguably lack of such today in our group, Lesse gave up his ride--and he wasn't even a co-leader but I'll try to get him that credit after-the-fact--to help someone. The particulars really don't matter but the takeaway does and I repeat it: he gave up his ride to help another. Thank you, Lesse. You got class...but, then, you know I've thought that of you.
Kingston Rhinecliff Bridge.
Does anybody know of this bridge is open to bicycles?
Thanks.
A note from your new President
Dear Members,
As many of you know, on April 17th, I was elected by our Board of Directors to fill the position of club president, due to the resignation of Christy Guzzetta.
In 2002, I joined NYCC, with my wife, Valli, and have been a very active member of our wonderful club since then. I am grateful for the many friendships that I have made in our club through the years, due to our mutual passion for cycling.
Over the years, I have been a B Siggie, a B-STS participant, marked routes and recruited sponsors for ENY, represented the Club in various advocacy efforts and captained Team NYCC for Gran Fondo NJ.
River Road Update
Rode it this afternoon and it is completely cleaned up and fine.
Help save the recently completed Dyckman street protected bike lanes!
Representative Espalillat is pushing to get the recently completed protected bike lanes on Dyckman Street in the Inwood section of Manhattan removed.
Please let him know that you feel it's important having those lanes in place.
Here is a link you can use to send him a letter: https://peopleforbikes.org/dyckman-street-bike-lane/
Thanks
