Group ride for the C-types, Escape New York
I've signed up for the 50-miler -- not 65 or 100 -- and would like to get together with other NYCC C-types who are willing to tackle it, and who have done the Rye, NY trip without an excess of kvetching (OK, I do that too). Let me know & we can meet up. I'm a little concerned about having no leader and needing to keep a cue sheet in front of me.
Cycling accident on 9W Sunday a.m.
About 8:30 a.m., passed what appeared to be a serious cycling accident, guy was flat out on his face. A bunch of riders with him. One car stopped, unclear whether accident involved that car, or car stopped to give assistance. If anyone knows what happened, please post.
Escape NY SWAG donation
If someone would please let me know whom to reach out to in regard to a swag provider/sponser. I have had no luck with the email address provided.
The Police State of Central Park
went for a ride this morning through CP. we now have signs singling out cyclist and cops with radar guns not to mention more cop vehicles just casually driving in the park.
this is ridiculous. you can get away with murder by killing a cyclist/pedestrian with a car, and pedestrians can freely use the bike lanes when that is the only space we have (when cars are permitted) and the Park refuses to implement a one lane driving lane found in Prospect Park. In addition, they are always complaining they dont have the resources to enforce the speeding cars or the gross misuse of cycling lanes by pedestrians.
It is pathetic.
"B" Class group ride for Escape New York...
Hi everyone it's dave. It was nice meeting many of you at the All Class ride to Rye... i'm sure many of you have signed up for escape new york on sept 22. Some of us are looking to put a nice group together to have fun and make the long ride more enjoyable. We are "B" class riders but haven't decided on 65 or 100 mile route. We love the 100mile rides but I hear this 100 miler may get you back a little late to the festivities and 65 is recommended if you plan on making it back early enough to enjoy it. We may just start off on the 100 and if it gets really late we can switch to 65. the 65 mile route is also just as challenging and with enough elevation to keep you humble.
SEROTTA FORUM
Is the Serotta Forum dead? I'm a few months away from getting my degree in dentistry and ready to pull the trigger on a new steed but I can't find the forum I once loved so much.
NYPD officer Perez strikes again! I think I know why we're attractive to him.
6--count 'em--6 ClimBathon riders were ticketed today by the all too well known (and perfectly pleasant, but, then, why shouldn't he be?) Ofc. Perez. This was on Riverside, around 120th St. In our group: two lawyers, one being the notable "bike" lawyer, Steve Vaccaro. Neither was ticketed. Ofc. Perez said he wrote the ticket for a less expensive option. According to him: $50 and no points on your license. Nevertheless, at the PIPC station in Alpine we ran into someone who was similarly ticketed some while ago and who reported, yeah, you send in your fifty bucks and the court sends you an invoice for ca. $200, stating your check is received as a guilty plea, please pay the remainder.
