Ticketed in Prospect Park - Warning

Submitted by EOliver on Mon, 08/20/2012 - 10:47am

I am not going to bore you with the details, but I was ticketed in Prospect Park yesterday for not stopping fully at a red light. I rolled up to the 9th street intersecton, where a group of volunteers and a police officer were stationed. They were slowing/stopping cyclists to let pedestrains cross. 9th Street is a busy crosswak in the park. I rolled to a stop, didn't unclip from my pedals, waitied for the crosswak to be clear and rolled through the red. I was immediately pulled over. According to the officer who gave me the summons, cyclists are supposed to stop fully at all red lights in the parks and wait until the light turns green. I mentioned that my understanding was that we could pass through once pedestrains were safely across. He told me I was mistaken.

Thanks for the All-Class

A vote of thanks to all those who organized and volunteered to set up the All-Class today.

Wonderful fun and a great destination.

And a special tip of the hat to the C-Leaders who took thirty-something newbies, organized them into groups and rapid-schooled them on group ride technique.  Amazing.

Speed limit in Central Park

Submitted by FLoome on Sun, 08/19/2012 - 2:22pm

While running in the park this morning, I saw several cops around the loop with speed guns, monitoring cyclists. This was today, Sunday, between 8am and 10am. Rumor has it that this is due to the terrible incident with the blind runner.

Ramapo Rally (need a ride from NYC)

Submitted by natbat on Sat, 08/18/2012 - 10:09am

Hi,

I'm new to this site but am hoping someone is doing the Ramapo Rally and coming from NYC.  If so, I'm trying to catch a ride to and from the event.  I'll be riding the 100 mile route.  I'm happy to give you some cash for gas and tolls.

Thanks,

Nathan

SORRY GUYS BUT THE RAIN IS STILL COMING DOWN PRETTY HARD.

I'LL TRY TO RESET IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS

POSSIBLY EVEN NEXT WEEK

Boathouse. 9AM. 18MPH. 60 miles...unless it's, uhh, raining.

Note: You'll get free food and free music on the all-class club ride Sunday. The ClimBathon has a long history and much revered tradition of making people pay for their own lunch. Music? Not unless my rants are music to your ears.

Please write me at rr at ro-ads.com and let me know whether/weather you're coming.
