Message Board

OK, we now have deranged people on this message board.

Submitted by JFinder on Tue, 08/28/2012 - 11:38pm

It may be time for another discussion about anonymity on this message board.

Non-members have legitimate reasons for posting here.  For example, out-of-town visitors or sincere noobs looking for cycling information, or information about the club.

Anonymous posts by members may be appropriate too.  For example, questions about embarrassing lubrication issues.

This short list is not intended to be exhaustive.

What we don't need is loons, irresponsible provocateurs, and other anonymous non-members on this board.  We've seen plenty in the last two weeks.

Members are members.  They can say what they want.  We may not all agree, but we know who is speaking and where they are coming from.

1. A conscience
2. Shame
3. Contrition
4. Conversion
5. Confusion. Not knowing how to deal with what you have done or who to reach out to. You are Anglo-Saxon Lance enemy Numero uno
5a. Taking ownership of what you have done
6. Feeling dirty, anger and a sense of betrayal for trying to do the right thing. What our parents, peers and society taught us is the right thing to do. Some people call them whistle-blowers.
8. Divorce. Having your marriage ripped asunder as you confront and deal w/your mis-deeds and are branded the new pyorrhea

Pimp my ride

Submitted by Slugger on Tue, 08/28/2012 - 9:54am

I'm very slowly turning my black and silver Trek (aka, vertical asphalt) into a black and silver and lime green Trek. To that end, I think I'm going to replace the cable housing. This is the first time I've ever shopped for parts like this, and I'm a little overwhelmed. Here are my options:

1) Shimano PTFE Road Shift set ($35) and Brake set ($40). Two separate sets, total cost, $75.

2) Clark's Stainless Sport Brake Kit ($13) and Sport Gear Cable Kit ($12). Two separate sets, total cost inc. shipping, $31.

3) Jagwire Racer DIY Brake and Derailleur Kit, $35. Appears to have both sets, inclusive, for $35.

After threads on this forum from here to Cincinnati, and a day in court; silence, not a word about the results of cyclists, FLPD and the judiciary.

Don't you think if anything is to be gained by the cycling community some sort of explanation is in order?
