CANCELLED ... B15 Lucky 13 - Sunday Feb 10 2013
Due to storm, I am cancelling the ride for Sunday.
It's Friday and noon. The roads are slippery and wet hail is falling. It's suppose to increase.
The City of Englewood had alerted the residents of the possible impact and is working with PSE&G, on-call volunteers and local parking garages to prepare residents.
I do not expect the roads to be safe by Sunday.
Best,
Diane

Cross-country skiing in Central Park Saturday AND SUNDAY morningS - - open invite
When it sleets then snowstorms and we can't ride our bikes outdoors . . . let's XC ski!
Should be 5+ inches by Saturday morning. Anyone want to join me? Would like an early start, say, 8:30ish.
Meet at north entrance to Sheeps Meadow at the cafe/rest rooms.
RSVP to confirm (if no one's in by (10PM this evening, then I reserve the right to XC ski in a diff part of the park; either the Great Lawn, or some XC in the north end of the park).
UPDATE. Switching to meetup 9am at closest part of Great Lawn to Shakespeare Delacorte theater (SW corner)

The weather forecast is too grim for safe riding tomorrow. I will re-post when the weather is more promising.

Guns for Bikes
Thinking out of the box!
How is it rated? Assault rifle = carbon bike, a one-barrel shotgun = a danish cargo bike, Israeli Uzi = folding bike?

An argument in support of wearing headphones while cycling?
My Subject name is just me being my usual, ol' provocative self. Don't. But might this article have meaning for/application to cycling? http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/02/06/getting-into-your-exercise-groove/
Columbia University Journalism, Cycling safety in Brooklyn
Hey everybody,
My name is Ryan Book and I'm a reporter with Columbia University's journalism program, and I'm working on a story on bicycle safety in Brooklyn. As you may have heard, preliminary numbers from the Dept. of Transportation show the most deaths and injuries among cyclists during 2012 in Brooklyn over other boroughs.
I'm looking for comments from Brooklynites on the issue, either on what factors might make Brooklyn a scarier place to ride, or what cyclists can do to deter such tragedies from taking place.
