The forecast is 34 degrees feeling like 29 and only one brave soul is still signed up so I am cancelling tomorrow morning's ride. The park is still open so don't stay home on my account.

Tremendous Opportunity for B Riders

Tremendous Opportunity for B Riders

For the past 4 years, Victor Baruh & I have Co-Captained the B STS. Together with our team of dedicated Ride Leaders and approximately 150 participants, it has been a memorable experience. The cycling was challenging, the routes were beautiful, the friendships made . . . . priceless.

We have decided to step aside and “pass the baton” to a new team of Captains and Ride Leaders so they can enjoy a similar experience. We promise that it will be just as rewarding for those who succeed us. We hope that any and all experienced and motivated B level riders will consider this as a unique opportunity.

Places to try on cycling sunglasses?

Submitted by Slugger on Wed, 11/20/2013 - 2:46pm

I'm looking to burn through a LOT of flex money (what an awesome problem to have!), and have decided it is time for a badass pair of prescription wraparounds. Oakleys, right?! Wrong - Oakleys don't fit my head. I'm already crushed, no need to tell me how much this sucks. ;)

So, I want to find some place in the city that has a decent selection of cycling sunglasses. So far, the only places I've been have one or two Oakleys, but nothing else. I know other manufacturers make them - I've researched online - but given the weird head fit issue, I need to try them in person. Any suggestions?

The Guardian: Pro on utility bike vs Middle Aged Guy on superbike

Submitted by JRubin on Sun, 11/17/2013 - 2:20pm

I've always wondered what would happen if a pro rode an ordinary bike.

On July 17, a reporter for the English newspaper "The Guardian" raced a Pro,  who rides various utility bikes.

Nyack ride renamed to Six Flats Great Adventure

Submitted by GRoss on Sat, 11/16/2013 - 5:57pm

We had a terrific ride today; about 20 people were on the ride, the weather was beautiful and River Road/Hudson River Dr. was pristine.

We did shorten the ride to Piermont because we had so much fun with 6 flats over about 30 miles of the 50 mile ride. 5 of us had a chance to demonstrate our tube replacement skills (our winner had two flats). We never did get to find out whether the Clausland Mountain fire would affect our route.

I don't know if this is a record, but it certainly deserves recognition. Thus the new name with apologies to Six Flags Great Adventure.
