11/26 Tuesday Morning Laps around Central Park is cancelled
Because of work commitments I am cancelling Tuesday morning's Central Park ride. At this point no one has signed up for it so I hope this message is read before anyone makes commitments to appear at the park at 6:00 AM at near freezing temperature. If you do go anyway, don't wait for me. Jerry Ross
Two Rons Ride to Oyster Bay is ON
We may, or may not, revise route a bit shorter, but we will make a go of it.

Autumn Leaves & Seasonal Hops #3 --- A17 CANCELLED
Susan and I have gone back and forth about what to do tomorrow. We don't like cancelling a ride but it really looks like a cold and very windy day tomorrow. I checked the forecast for the area we are going tomorrow and the temperatures are 27F with max. of 30F dropping again to 26F and below in the late afternoon/early evening. That alone I wouldn't consider a problem but they also forecasted winds of 19-20 mph which brings the windchill factor down to 4F.
Sunday morning - Beginner's Hardpack / OCA - A20 - CANCELLED
Due to the unseasonably cold & windy forecast for Sunday, Mikel and I are (regretfully) canceling our A20 Old Croton Aqueduct / beginner's hardpack ride. We're planning to relist in December.

Garmin 705 help
I love the 705. It records wonderfully. I've been having issues, however, on the road. It says it's not recording...the feet-climbed feature stays at a stagnant number. Sometimes the grade window is just blank. If it is recording (when I upload the day's ride it shows it all), then what could be the issue? I went online to the support site, but no help there. I really don't want to spend half hour on the phone with support but will if I get no suggestions here. Thanks!
Dan Martin and Nico Roche.
This is an interesting little piece with two of my favorite riders.

Max Vickers' bike
I received this email the other day, thought I'd share it with the Club:
Size 52 to borrow/rent Dec. 13-19?
Greetings from one of the Western branches of the NYCC ...
I'm wondering if anyone might have an extra/spare road bike, size 52, that I might be able to borrow or rent (for less than bike shop prices) when Timothy and I are back in town Dec. 13-19. Does not have to be a women-specific bike.
I'd take good care of it and return it clean!
Please contact me offline if you have possibilities. Thanks! And hope to see some of you next month.
Road Bike Party - - what skill!
Wow - - look what a road bike can do in the hands of a top mtn bike trials champion.

But do NOT do those at home. Sad news is that the champ Martyn Ashton crashed and hurt himself in September, during one such maneuver.

Touring advice- Austria
my brother-in-law is considering a trip to Austria in 2014... he'd like to explore the possibility of a bike trip...
he can handle a B-16/17 type ride... no pacelining skills... fitness level pretty good... looking for 35 to 50 miles per day... would like to have SAG option, as well as luggage transportation from town to town... wants to stay indoors at night (no camping, please), not expensive hotels, hostels could work... prefers low(er) costs... will need bike provided...
suggestions?
thanks,
george
