Proposed Amendments to NYCC by-laws effective 1/1/16

Submitted by nyccadmin on Fri, 09/11/2015 - 9:02am

(EDIT - Brian Van, 11/10/15 - of these proposed amendments, #1 was defeated in the balloting; #2 was adopted directly by the board, in accordance with the club's existing bylaws; #3 was adopted by the club members)

As in past years, your Board is recommending several, generally minor, changes to the Club’s By-Laws, and these are summarized below.  Because ALL By-Law changes require approval of TWO-THIRDS of the votes cast, your vote on each of these items is important.

Tears of sadness for the passing of Sarah Weiss

Submitted by CGuzzetta on Thu, 09/10/2015 - 9:06pm

We have lost an icon in our sport, a special person in our life, yesterday – Sarah Weiss passed away.   Sarah, along with her husband Conrad, created the special place called “Conrad’s”.   When New York magazine wrote about Conrad’s they referred to the “performance bike shop” and its “crème de la crème bikes and the quality craftsmanship [that] attracts cycling celebrities and hardcore cyclists”.  Sarah, however, was more than a bike shop. Not only was she a unique personality in our sport, she was that in our life as well.

23cc or 25cc Tires

Submitted by johnvic on Thu, 09/10/2015 - 1:30pm

I think I'm about to open a can of worms.

My new bike came with 23cc tires. The shop owner said that it is typical for manufacturers to use cheap tires and would want to change them soon. Sure enough I got a flat yesterday in the rain. So I may as well get new tires now.

I always heard that 23cc is faster. But now I'm hearing 25cc is faster but that may be at lower pressure. I don't mind higher pressure.

Thoughts?
