If you think ticketing cyclists in Brooklyn isn't racial, think again.
Tomorrow's (Saturday's) ClimBathon (B-18) moved to Sunday.
Same time (9:30). Same place (Boathouse). Same curmudgeonly leader.
Can one receive red light tickets in the upper half of Central Park?
I.e., the portion that is closed off to vehicular traffic? The thought has occurred to me many a time, and I was wondering if I should retain my heightened level of vigilance throughout the entire six-mile loop, or if I can let my guard down (even by just a tad) while in the upper half of the park. I am pretty sure I know what the answer is, but nevertheless wanted to see if anyone had any anecdotes or personal experience to share. Mostly, I'd like to avoid 'gotcha' tickets (e.g., I go through a red - not even pausing to Idaho stop - because the coast was clear and an LEO jumps out from behind a bush and pulls me over, etc.).

Families for Safe Streets Peer Support Groups for victims of traffic crashes
Starting this month Families for Safe Streets will offer peer support groups on the first Wednesday of each month at the new Transportation Alternatives headquarters at 111 John Street, 2nd floor, Manhattan from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Two sessions are offered. One is for victims of traffic crash injuries and the other for people who have lost loved ones in crashes. Clinical social workers will facilitate each group.
Word of the day, shoaling
http://gothamist.com/2015/10/06/shoaling_cyclist_etiquette.php
I think there are times when shoaling is a necessary maneuver riding in the city. In my experience, when you ride up to an intersection with 2 or more Citi bikers in front of you, it takes them quite some time for each one of them to start moving when the light turns green, especially when they are riding side by side and talking to each other.
