Rides Listed Via Message Board

Submitted by nymultisport on Sun, 02/21/2016 - 4:43pm

Is a bicycle ride listed solely via this message board--listed by a nycc member, and open only to nycc members--covered by the same insurance as Rides/Events listings?

Cycle Adirondacks ride August 20-27

Submitted by schaller56 on Sun, 02/21/2016 - 11:26am

Did anyone do the Cycle Adirondacks ride last August, or thinking of doing it this year?  Seven days, not too far away, they will provide transportation to Ticonderoga start.  Check it out and I'd be interested if anyone else is considering this.

Issues setting up Velocity A23 tubeless

Submitted by Cmoore on Fri, 02/19/2016 - 12:37pm

Hi, I'm trying to set up a pair of Terravail Galena's (designed for tubeless) on my A23s, and really having a diffcult time with seating the bead the first time, even with gas station compressor and a good bit of  very sudsy soapy water lubricating the bead. I've got two passes of Velotape (pressed down well w plastic tire layers, getting all air bubbles out, etc) and Velocity valvestems w the delrin washers installed. I have had the wheel laying horizontally on the ground, as I've read is one of two ways to get it set. Can't seem to get that bead to pop for anything.

Rust stains on jersey?

Submitted by EJacobs on Tue, 02/16/2016 - 2:20am

Dear all,

The safety pins for the bib number on a recent event I did rusted (clearly not stainless steel!) and left tiny pin-sized rust stains on three of my light colored jerseys. They have been through the wash-- but not the dryer.

I googled how to get rid of rust stains, and the consensus seems to be acid, but application of a 1% and then 5% acetic acid solutions did nothing.

Does anyone have suggestions for getting rid of them? (The stains, not the jersys.) I'd be very grateful.

Thanks in advance,

-Erica
