CP racing (If you can get fully revved up in the middle of the night)

Submitted by CLam on Fri, 04/28/2023 - 1:38pm

.
If you've finished the A-Classics or you're always in the front of the A-Sigs. This video shows what it's like to race in CP on Saturday mornings. Its got coasting in the high 20s on the east side and crashes you have no control over. I'm too old for this s..:-)

Its got lots of expensive carbon and aero socks.

Scarification on RSD

Submitted by George_S on Tue, 04/25/2023 - 6:16pm

Rode down RSD this afternoon and discovered the roadway has been scarified from about 90th down to 80th in anticipation of repaving.

Wasn't sure if this is just the start and will be extended Up or Down.

Professional Bike Fit, or can a member help me?

Submitted by soniaahuja12 on Mon, 04/24/2023 - 9:48pm

Hi All,

I'm in the C-sig...fairly new to biking and loving it (shout out to C1 leaders and riders!). I'm contemplating a professional bike fit but since I'm still not clipping in and am understanding the feel of the bike, I'm wondering if there's at least a step I can take before I invest in that? It would be wonderful if a knowledgeable member can help me out with a bike fit or suggest a more $$ conservative step I can take, first.

Thanks!

Sonia

Cycling through West Point Garrison

Submitted by mhsimkin on Fri, 04/21/2023 - 6:39am

Hi:

Does any one know the current procedure for cycling through the West Point Garrison?

  1. If we enter a Thayer Gate, will we be able to exit via the Washington Gate?
  2. Will everyone need to complete an AIE form?
  3. If I lead a group ride, will I need to restrict the ride to citizens only?

Thanks

GFNY Sunday May 21st Road Closure Information

Submitted by RSchmon on Thu, 04/20/2023 - 2:10pm

Following is information on how to navigate around the road closures during the Gran Fondo New York on Sunday, May 21st, 2023.  I have received this information from Uli Fluhme—co-founder and co-organizer of the event. Some of the closures are new for this year, and the big news is the course change described below.

River Road (Henry Hudson Drive) and Hudson Terrace will be closed all day.

Therefore, cyclists will have to by-pass Hudson Terrace to and from the George Washington Bridge on the New Jersey side by using Bruce Reynolds Boulevard and Lemoine Avenue.

9W is as usual closed Northbound from Alpine to Nyack from 7am to 9.30am. The detour is Closter Dock Road down to Piermont Road / 340.

director's Screening: Enter the Slipstream

Submitted by Steve Vaccaro on Wed, 04/19/2023 - 4:37pm

A good friend Matt Rogers is the producer of Enter the Slipstream, a documentary film about bike racing in the post-doping era, and asked me to let NYCC members know about upcoming director's screenings.

small hands using Dia-Compe 287 "V" Aero for Linear brakes

Submitted by HBorgeson on Mon, 04/17/2023 - 9:40pm

Any tips for making Dia-Compe 287 brakes easier for use with small hands? I'm right-handed but having a hard time with the right brake. The left one is somehow easier.

I saw a previous thread recommended a Terry video that no longer appears on the page, unfortunately. (OK, the thread was 12 years ago.)
