If you ride in NJ, please help us get this bill passed!
NYCC'ers, please help us get a bill signed by Gov Christie. It's S2894/A4165- which requires the state's driver's education curriculum, driver's ed manual and the license exam to include bike and pedestrian safety. Right now- there's almost nothing, which is partially why you will often hear the common refrain, "Roads are for CARS!" when you pedal in our fair state.
But Gov Christie has one last chance to change that- ok, start to change that- by signing this bill into law before it expires next Tuesday, Jan 16th- which is before our new Governor takes office. That's how it works.

Introducing the D-SIG (aka Dirt SIG)
We are very excited about introducing the new D-SIG (aka Dirt SIG) this spring. So much so we can’t wait until February’s official SIG club meeting to start talking about it. Brian Sullivan and I will be at the January 9 meeting to informally chat and answer any questions about the program.
This has nothing to do with cycling...unless you ride where there are drivers.
Spring Training Series (Sig & STS) railroad ride requests: Attention Sig & STS leaders
The A-Sig, A-Classic, D-Sig and A-STS contacts have submitted ride requests for trains for their ride series.
[notice that all the A groups are truly type A individuals]
Not all ride groups are so proactive. Don't wait till the last minute and find that you want train requests for dates that have already been claimed. Now is the time to get your schedule nailed down.
That is all,
Hank
I received a duplicate bike from Canyon USA: A short tale of customer service
I thought I’d share my experience with Canyon’s customer service, and just offer it up if you decide on buying from them. Hopefully if you do buy you don’t have to do anything that involves dealing with their customer service as I don’t know how that would go in other situations.

Thoughts on Chain Reaction Cycles
Hi.
I ordered two new Shimano cranksets from Chain Reaction Cycles, before I realized they are in Northern Ireland. They had pricing that allow me to save 42%.
I'm concerned that the cranksets are going to be gray market, or worse, since I need to deal with Chain Reaction for warrenty issues and not go to Shimano directly.
What is people's experience with Chain Reaction, especially when there is a defect in the hardware?
Should I trust that what I'm getting is the real thing?
Should I just sell the cranksets on eBay to recoup what I spent and then buy new cranksets on this side of the Atlantic?
Thanks
