Trying to get an idea of which NYCC members are doing this ride.  I'm making 7:17 from Harlem/125th St.

Law Pulls Plug on Electric Bikes

Electric bikes are increasingly found zipping noiselessly along city streets. They are particularly popular among restaurant delivery workers.

There's just one thing: They're illegal.

If you will be joining us Memorial Day Weekend for the fun and frolic of the NYCC Berkshires Weekend and have not received an email with the preliminary ride listings and information, you need to do 2 things. First, send me an email at tomoboe [@] mindspring.com so I can add you to the list, then go to this link:

Questons on how to use message board

Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 05/16/2011 - 11:56pm

I haven't been on the bike, nor the message board in the winter. So I'm unfamiliar with the "new" software:

1) Why can't I edit my own post some of the time? (sometimes I see the edit button, but other times not. I'm talking about MY own posts)

2) Is there an option on the profile to turn off the e-mail notification on threads I posted on, blanket style? I know I can un-check the little box at the bottom of my post. But I have to do that for every thread I post. I would prefer to NOT receive ANY e-mail notification on ALL the threads I post on. It's quite annoying when I respond to a question for say, routes, only to receive upteen e-mail about other people who also suggested similar routes.

B16 Central Park laps at 5:45am - canceled for Tuesday, May 17

Submitted by LWintner on Mon, 05/16/2011 - 8:50pm

The weather for tomorrow morning looks bad.  Even if it's not actually raining at 5:45am, I think the roads will be wet.

I hope to see you Thursday.

Thinking about purchasing this for my bike. Is this something worth spending $199 on? Does anyone else use and recommend? Thanks in advance for your help

The fast way through Queens from Manhattan

Submitted by DHudes on Mon, 05/16/2011 - 4:26pm

There are always variations but I'm comparing two routes through Queens from Manhattan, assuming a high B / low A ride.  The objective is a faster trip: is the 3 extra miles more than compensated by shorter travel time?  Assume early on a summer Sunday morning departure 7 AM so the stores in the shopping mall in Douglaston are not yet open (though employees of those stores may be headed to work -- lower volume but highly concentrated in time I would think).

B17 6:15 AM ride still likely on for tomorrow

Submitted by MHiller on Mon, 05/16/2011 - 3:42pm

Unless it's absolutely pouring I'll probably still be riding tomorrow morning, though I may just do laps in the park rather than riding up to Piermont.

Reach out directly to me if you want to come along; otherwise I will assume that I'm the lone crazy. :-) Thanks!

Matt
