Looks like I spoke too soon...  If you are seeing this message then at least the site is up.  The web team is working out the issue.

For those technically minded...  One of the guys on the team discovered:

Train notes from my DIY Montauk century run from last weekend

Submitted by MHiller on Tue, 05/24/2011 - 4:00pm

I did a do-it-yourself run out to Montauk on Saturday -- I last did this a couple of years ago -- and figured I'd pass along a few tidbits of information gleaned along the way:

* I was prepared to take the Hampton Jitney back -- when I last did this, the middle third of the ride back was marred by hordes of drunken yahoos coming from the Boardy Barn in Hampton Bays invading the train -- but it was a Saturday, and we were safe from this particular hazard. Traffic on Montauk Highway westbound was congested in the village centers anyway.

Website Issues

Submitted by dortsman on Tue, 05/24/2011 - 1:57pm

This morning the site experienced some problems with a corrupted table in the database.  Effectively, it did not allow login.  It's working now.

I realize there is a lot of frustration with the site.   After only six weeks on the job, I'm still getting the lay of the land.  My impression so far...  there are a lot of issues - large and small - that need fixing.  That said, we have a decent foundation from which to work from.  The all-volunteer web team has been working on some the small fixes since we met for the first time in early May.

More good stuff to come...thanks for your patience on this.

Anyone have a used/extra Cateye Strada they'd be willing to part with?

Submitted by BVan Nieuwenhoven on Tue, 05/24/2011 - 1:40pm

A friend of mine lost his computer unit over the weekend. It just popped off the bracket while riding, and we didn't notice until after we'd finished a nasty road and were ready to park bikes. I'm buying him a replacement on the sneak...

There's no need to buy the whole kit new all over again, so perhaps someone has one sitting in a drawer that they no longer need.

FYI, his wiring kit is for the Cateye Strada (the cheapest one they sell) and not the Strada Cadence or the wireless versions. I don't think the wiring is compatible with the Cadence, and I'm not looking to pay a premium to upgrade his kit.

Short Ride anyone in Berkshires (Sheffield) on Friday PM 5/27

Submitted by SHwang on Mon, 05/23/2011 - 4:25pm

My husband and I are driving up to the Berkshires on Friday morning and will be arriving by lunchtime.  We are looking to hook up with a small group or individuals for a short ride around the Berkshires (B14-16 level 25-30 miles).  Let me know if anyone is interested or knows of any small group doing this.  We are staying at The Sheffield Inn.  Thanks!

Is anyone aware of a hassle-free way to travel to Rhode Island with a bicycle (other than riding it)?

Free: used rubber feet for Cycleops rollers

Submitted by CWood on Mon, 05/23/2011 - 3:59pm

I replaced the rubber feet on my Cycleops rollers. Two were split, but four are whole, still flexible and usable.

If you need a replacement, send me an email. How many you want, when you will come. Pick up anytime in East 30s.

(P.S. Another big huge thank-you to Brian for selling me these rollers. I just loooove them.)
