South County Trailways detour north of Tibbetts Brook Park has been removed
You can now cycle from Van Cortlandt Park to Elmsford without a detour.
An added plus; an unexpected brief, distant view of the NY skyline as you head south beyond Mile Square Rd, on the left the view opens between houses over Redmond Park.

Conti Grand Prix question
Does anyone else use Continental Grand Prix "black chili pepper" tires? I was checking mine for glass tonight when I noticed what I would call stress tears. There are very fine lines on the riding surface, most less than 1/8th inch long, where the rubber seems to be splitting. The splits are not at all deep - just on the surface - and run mostly parallel with the riding surface. They are consistent around the entire circumference of the tire, in some places as many as 3 or 4 across the tire surface. It's a relatively new front tire still with good tread.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Hudson Terrace being cleared
Hip-hip-hooray for the Bergen County road crew that was out today clipping and clearing the overhanging branches on the north-bound side of Hudson Terrace. I also saw a crew on the north-bound shoulder of 9W. It looked like they were clearing brush.
