This ride through New Jersey horse country is spectacularly beautiful with quiet country roads, horses, and the smell of fresh hay.  It is just shy of 50 miles but is challenging with almost 3000 feet of climbing.  Jockey Hollow Visitor Center is good restroom stop and historic site with plenty of Revolutionary War plaques and information.  There are several lunch options in Gladstone but we like the Gladstone Market which is right on Main Street at intersection of Dewey Ave.  There is indoor and outdoor seating, with the outdoor seating right by a creek.  On the return is Lake Road, a quiet country road that curves around the lake.  The ride starts and ends at Madison NJT station, which is a quick one hour ride from NYP.

If you are driving, parking is available at Madison NJT, but on weekdays the lots may fill up early with commuter traffic.  Park America lots 1 and 2 on King's Road run about $7 a day.  If those lots are full you can park for free at Memorial Park about 1 mile away from the train station.  That lot is at Rosedale Ave and Valley Road.  From the lot turn right on Rosedale Ave to Greenwood Ave, left on Greenwood, cross Main Street, and turn right on King's Road to NJT.
