WUSS ride is cancelled for Saturday, 2/15

While the mayor might send the kids to school... and although the chancellor is right, it IS a beautiful day... and even though the leaders of this ride are not commonly known throughout the club for their good sense, tomorrow's WUSS ride is cancelled... with luck, the roads will clear by next week and allow to get a ride, and pigs might fly :)

Stay warm, safe and well,
George for the entire WUSS leader team

Bridge Path is Still Closed

Submitted by BVan Nieuwenhoven on Fri, 02/14/2014 - 9:53am

And if that weren't enough, 9W between East Clinton and Hillside is also temporarily closed for flooding, as seen on traffic reports today.

Stay safe out there!

I just thought I'd let the club know...

I didn't ride today.

Yep, you read right. A kid writes to the legislator after his mom was hit by car. Legislator says: too bad, cars rule.

Via reddit. Then picked up on CBS.

Self-test Table Prospect Park version?

Submitted by muanis on Thu, 02/13/2014 - 12:33am

new member here, trying to assess if I can join the Prospect Park rides (B16-18) in the mornings.

Can I just time 8 laps on PP and compare to the Central Park table or doing this is comparing apples to oranges. In that case how would be a fair way to self test without going to CP?

Thanks.

Bike shopping- No Test Ride?

Submitted by egstillman on Wed, 02/12/2014 - 5:10pm

Seeking some advice (without a specisic question)...

I'm in the market for a new bike, and have compiled a (rather long) short list of contenders. I just called the only NYC dealer for one the the brands I'm considering, and was told that the shop, in it's 40-some years of business, has never allowed buyers to take bikes for test rides. (Part of this reasoning is understandable; doubting a buyer can really evaluate a bike in under 100 miles.)

But I can't fathom the idea of paying an obscene amount of money (I'm ashamed to even say the cost... It's equivelent to about 70 monthly unlimited MetroPasses)  for a bike I haven't even taken around the block.

Why I love the New York Cycle Club

I’ve been reading our message board this past week or so.  All the mishegoss about charging for the SIG’s, about rides being cancelled, about company logos on Club jerseys, about ENY, about all kinds of stuff.
