Recommendations for pwx file merging? (Training Peaks)
Dear all, I'd like to combine multiple sections of a computrainer workout (warm-up, hill repeats, intervals) that have been saved as multiple pwx files into a single pwx file that I will upload to the Training Peaks web site. (Unfortunately, Peaks cannot merge files, nor can it accept multiple files into a single workout.)
I tried using a web-based utility to convert the pwx files into tcx files and then merge those into a single tcx file. It seemed to work just fine, but when I tried to load the merged file to Peaks, it gave me an error: "Attempted to upload a file with multiple workouts." (Earth to Peaks: not actually multiple workouts, just multiple parts of the same workout.)
Training Peaks customer support was completely useless.
Amtrak Northeast Corridor hearings- time for NYCCers to ask for roll-on access, secure bike parking, etc
To those who might be interested, there are some public hearings regarding AMTRAK and the NE Corridor - Washington DC to Boston. This is an opportunity for NYCCers to ask for roll-on access, secure bike parking at stations, etc. Currently, you must box your bike to get onto Amtrak between NYC and DC. It is important to send a strong message that the ROW development incorporate multimodal opportunities. You can also comment online. Here are the details:
RIDE START TIME PUSHED BACK: Wednesday River Road Blah Blah Blah...
We’re going to delay the start time of tomorrow morning’s River Road ride by 15 minutes, just to give the sun some extra time to rise. I don’t expect that will make a lick of difference as far as temperatures go, but it should definitely help as far as visibility!
So, if you signed up for that ride (or are considering it) I’ll see you at 7:00AM tomorrow morning.

Recs for physician (or physiatrist, physical therapist, etc) who is creative, can help diagnose leg falling asleep?
Hello and happy new year. This is part of my new year's resolution:
So, I have a problem with just one foot falling asleep on long rides.
I have long-tested the usual suspects: shoes, insoles, pro bike fits (two of them, with multiple followups), conditioning, saddle adjustment, handlebar height, reach adjustment, core exercise etc. I'm a year into this. Slow progress.
I've been to one physician and one well-regarded physiatrist (whose name has come up on these forums) who have both told me in so many words, "well, we're all different... you have a sleepy leg problem. you're gonna have to deal with it." Well — yeah, I could've told you that.
How successful was Citibike this past year? Far, far more than you would imagine. Here's why you should care.
More than TEN MILLION rides! 10,012,789 to be exact. Up 24 % from the previous year. Why is this good news to us, owners of our own, expensive, and, o, so very cool bikes? Answer: The more cyclists on the road, the safer we are as drivers get (more) used to seeing cyclists and driving around them. And the more the city should be inclined to accomodate cyclists in its road planning/stripping. Conclusion: Embrace Citibike riders even though they aren't as cool as us because they don't wear Spandex/Lycra and we do. (OK, let me make this post more informational for you: Did you know Lycra is owned by the Koch Brothers?)
Announcing the (I think) 24th annual wheelbuilding (and, for those who prefer, just wheel truing) class.
What: Bring a hub, rim, and spokes—leave 3 1/2 hours later with a perfect wheel you, yourself, will have built.
When: One Saturday in mid-January to late February. Exact date to be determined by class vote.
Where: East 62nd Street church.
Who: NYCC members.
Cost: $0. (...although I've been made more grumpy than my usual grumpy self by the lack of many past attendees to offer some token, modest contribution to the church whose facilities we used.)
Thank you, Neile
Thank you, Neile, for the time and effort you put into the good you did as president of the club. Good luck, Christy.
