Early Spring Gravel Rides - sun exposure and avoiding the mud

Submitted by Octobab on Fri, 03/01/2024 - 10:40am
Hi all, brand new member to the club. I recently picked up a cross bike, and have been having a blast exploring the city. My first foray onto gravel last weekend (Cold Spring's 'flagpole') was foiled, however, by an abundance of slushy snow and resulting deep mud, that even with appropriate tires was utterly impassable. Even with an abundance of warm weather recently, all of the tree-shade there has kept the snow at least a few inches deep on the trails. Of the various recommended gravel routes in the route library, are there any with enough sun-exposure that they're likely to be reasonably dry (or at least rideable) in the early spring?
