Unhappy with your new bike jersey? Here are a couple of alternatives:
Good news re Jones Beach
In recent years cycling at a leisure pace has been permitted on the boardwalk at all times. Also a paved bike path now connects the East Bathhouse field 5/stadium area with Tobay Beach. Today I was happy to discover that this year a new paved trail extends Westbound from West End/pkg field #1 several miles towards the Point Lookout inlet. I did about 15 stunnning miles today without including more miles cycling to & from Wantagh to the beach(the info office claimed that that trail is in good shape). The beach now has zip lining in addition to other sports and activities plus a number of dining options. I have enjoyed the beach for over 60 years as a visitor and employee but have never seen it better than today. Thanks Mr. Moses!

roads getting resurfaced
Rode Saturday and noticed not only Tweed getting chip-sealed but also the roads after the turnoff in West Haverstraw and before North Liberty. Not too bad but caution is always advised. The Tweed chip-seal is weird as they repaired the road earlier this spring. Rockland tax payer dollars hard at work I guess.
No August Club Meeting
There will be no August Club Meeting. We will resume our regularly schedule monthly club meetings in September where our very own Steve Vaccaro of the Law Office of Vaccaro & White will present: "Urban Commuting for Road Cyclists". His presentation will cover, what you need to start or to improve your urban bike commute, including: theft-proofing your street-locked commuter bike; avoiding tickets, collisions and injuries; fine-tuning your commute for maximum training benefit; and how to safely navigate NYC cycling infrastructure.
Stay tuned for more information.
Enjoy the rest of the summer and see you all at Connolly's in September!
Your emergency contact information
It seems that some of you either do not have complete emergency contact information or even put yourself as it. We will be changing the system shortly that will require the next time you sign in to update and correct this information. Sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause.

NYCC jersey fit
I ordered the new club jersey seven weeks ago and it arrived today. I was quite surprised that it's a "race cut" fit. Considering the fact that we are recreational cycling club and not race team ... and considering the typical phyique of our aging membership, I think "club cut" is markedly more appropriate. I incorrectly assumed that the fit would be comparable to my much-loved NYCC 75th Aniversary jersey and am sort of pissed-off that it does not. I hate tight, clinging jerseys and will return it unless someone want to take a size large off my hands for my cost of $60 - $5 = $55.
