Thru Axles & Trainers
Many of us have gotten new bikes in the last couple of years that use thru axles instead of quick releases. If you've tried to mount such a bike to a standard, old-fashioned resistance trainer, you probably ran into trouble. I discovered the solution, which is a thru axle trainer adapter from Robert Axle Project: https://robertaxleproject.com/. I have no connection to this company; I'm just a very satisfied customer. They make it very easy to figure out what you need and how to install it.
Heny Hudson Bridge Walkway
I noticed on my way into work this morning, that the walkway on the Henry Hudson Bridge has been reopened.
That is a nice early holiday present, as it wasn't expected to re-open until April.
Also, there are now more signs that state bikes must be walked.
I haven't had a chance to try it out as of yet.

Annie Londonderry(1870-1947) the ultimate intrepid female cyclist--cycled around the world in 1894
Fascinating! but I am not sure why Bruce Weber wrote and the Times published her mini bio on today's (Nov 11) obit page.
BTW Peter Zheutlin wrote:"Around the World on Two Wheels: Annie Londonderry's Extraordinary Ride" in 2007.

The instructions in the email for getting the Tour de Bronx tee shirt are wrong. you have to pick "My Packaging" and put in the dimentions 17 x 11 x 14 and declare a value. UP to $100 is free. If you do not do it this way ground service will not show up.
This is the correct email address it must be exactly like this

Calling All Ed Fishkin Disciples
If you've ever listened to Dr. Ed explain how to change a flat, you saw him use the ever-elusive, utterly unavailable, VAR tire tool. At the Philadelphia Bike Expo this weekend, I found a source for these in the United States (they used to be only spottily available from England). MB Rules forbid me from advertising this unique and wonderful product, but if you want to know where to get one, email me at [email protected].

Barrier Back Up On NJ Side of GWB
Just a heads up: a barrier is back up on the NJ side of the GWB, that I understand was put in last Wednesday. It is very narrow, probably less room than the one we had removed last spring. A friend will post a picture shortly on this threat. The good news is that the security guy in the white car that parks at the point where the gates swing open said it was fine to ride around his car and on the road side of the barrier; however, he still has those orange pyramid-type barriers between his fender and the entrance to the road side! So the visual as you approach will not be inviting to go around his car--but he claimed that was fine. Which of course begs the question why is the barrier there in the first place! But more on that later--we're working
