For head trauma in accidents without helmets, brain surgeons might be useless!

Besides, a brain surgeon who eschrews trauma prevention for the public is like a dentist who gives out candy on Halloween.

GWB open or closed?

Submitted by FSteinberg on Tue, 06/03/2014 - 9:40am

The PANYNJ site says the South walk is open but I received an email last night at 9:25PM from PANYNJ that the "GWB Sidewalk is closed for safety conditions".

What is open if anything?

restaurant throwing grease in road -- 181st and cabrini

Submitted by SSafier on Sun, 06/01/2014 - 6:18am

Sorry if this has been discussed before.  I had a bad accident yesterday  at the above intersection.  The cause, as indicated, was grease in the road from a restaurant.  The neighbors who came out to help have told me that other cyclists have had bad accidents there in the past -- broken bones, scrapes, etc.  Apparently, one of the restaurants on this corner has been creating this hazard for months (in my case, one of my witnesses slipped on the grease, as did the police car and ambulance).

Does anyone on the board know about this problem?  Has anyone else had an accident there or know about this restaurant?

If you do, could you please respond here or drop me an email ([email protected])

Thanks for any help!

I have a registration/wristband for Sunday's SBRA Bike-Boat-Bike ride in eastern Long Island.   I won't be able to do the ride.  If anyone would like the wristband (free), let me know.
