Riverdale Riverfest - **B-Ride Posted**

Submitted by jack Lehnert on Sun, 05/31/2015 - 2:19pm

On Sunday, June 14th the sixth annual free Riverdale Riverfest will take place.  The mission of the Riverfest is to bring people down to the Hudson River in Riverdale to encourage further development of a bicycle/pedestrian Greenway along the Hudson River in the Bronx.

A few of the many highlights of the festival are 1) one and a half hour sails on Pete Seeger's iconic sloop, the Clearwater as well as sails on the schooner, A.J. Meerwald, (the $25 cost), 2) a headline performance by the iconic band Blood, Sweat and Tears.  (5pm-6:30pm), 3) a Transportation ALternatives BIKE VALET!

John Kerry breaks leg cycling. Out of the Tour de France. In fact, out of France.

Literally Breaking News item just sent from Spain by NYCCer Liviu Goldenberg. (He didin't suggest we open this to whether or not Kerry was wearing a helmet or ought to have been.)  Hmmm, Bono. Kerry. Here's a reality TV Show idea. "Celebrity Rider." See who can best negotiate the mazes we call streets.

This is about how our brain and body work together—or not—to ride a bike.

I did this ride last year.  For some reason, it does not generate a cue sheet.  Does anyone know how I might generate one from this ride without rewriting the entire route?  Below is the link for the route and the ride.

Red Light Tickets in Central park

Submitted by branimal on Thu, 05/28/2015 - 8:07pm
I went to CP this past Sunday and all the cyclists were stopping at the red lights. Spoke to a roadie and apparently the cops are out giving tickets for blowing lights, and for exceeding the speed limit. This was sunday probably 2pm, so the park was packed

Anyone know if the cops are out ticketing there early in the morning or later in the evening? I'd like to do laps in CP but stopping at each light is painful.

Thanks.

From Bikesnob today.

Good thing the regular braking system still works. The "volunteer's" knees are probably not feeling good today.

[edit]: note that it's standard equipment to not rear end other cars. You have to pay extra to get the pedestrian detection system.
