"Snow Devils" Outing - Hiking on Sunday, 2/14

Submitted by nymultisport on Sat, 02/06/2016 - 3:15pm

Join the Snow Devils as we share yet-another Social Sunday of challenging terrain, beautiful views, and all-day camaraderie, on several Harriman State Park trails, in our cars, and at our post-outing coffee stop en route to a 4:00-5:00 NYC return. We car pool, leaving 8:30 am from an upper west side meet-up.

We're expecting ample snow on the ground--ice too--although it appears we'll be on MicroSpikes, StabilIcers, or similar footgear, and not on snowshoes.

FYI, as of Friday afternoon, ride is a go.

Weather looks good. I also checked with a bike shop in the area, roads should all be fine.

Check back here for further updates.

Saturday ride to Bethpage changed to Hartsdale

Submitted by NWeissman on Fri, 02/05/2016 - 3:20pm
There’s 6-8” snow in Bethpage, so the bike path is definitely out and Long Island main roads could be sloppy as well.  Whereas Westchester DOT says the roads have been plowed.  So I’m changing tomorrow's destination to Hartsdale and moving the Saturday start back to 10AM.

Does anyone know what the road conditions are in Bronsville/Yonkers/Scarsdale after today's snow storm?

No surprise there; he used to be a bike mechanic.

Speaking about Mayor de Blasio's plan to build a trolley line from upper Queens to lower Brooklyn,

"...Mr. Ravitch said the plan was 'brilliant.' He added, 'Not everybody's going to ride bikes.'"

BIKE THEFT

Submitted by MLevin on Thu, 02/04/2016 - 3:25pm

All, can you please get the word out about two bicycles that were stolen from our basement in Harlem on 147th Street between St. Nicholas and Convent. This happened yesterday (2/3) between 11:44am-1:19pm.  I cannot attach pictures here, but there are on the NYCC FB page. Please get the word out and I have a detective at the 30th precinct work on this. Please share everywhere you can.
