Announcing the 24th or 25th annual wheel building (or, if you prefer, just wheel truing) class. It's free.
Maybe it's the availability of complete wheelsets that fewer and fewer people have wanted to learn how to build a wheel so those wanting to learn just wheel truing will be accommodated this year.
Wheelbuilding class will be from 9:30 - 2:30 on a Saturday or Sunday in Jan. or Feb., the actual date to be determined by vote of those signing up. Wheelbuilders will start with their own rim, spokes, and hub and leave with their own perfectly built wheel they'll have built themselves.
Read Greg LeMond's note to the NYCC and the (then) new president's message from 25 years ago.
It's vanity, I know, but I presume to think the, then, new president's "last message," now twenty-five years old, is still relevant. http://rosenthaladvertising.com/25_yr.html
White Bike Sparkill
I just noticed a White Bike at the Tallman cut-off on 9W in Sparkill. When did this happen?
GWB temporarily closed
This message from Port Authority at 9:15am:
"The GWB Sidewalk is closed due to icing conditions. Updates will be posted as they become available."
My Christmas gift to the club: you must see every video, read every word. I can't stop laughing.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
MAY MMXVII BE BETTER THAN MMXVI
AND NOT AS GOOD AS MMXVIII!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Calling all cycling photographers
A former NYCC member asked me to post:
Calling all cycling photographers - see the link below for the 1st Annual Mark Gunter Photographer of the Year Awards.
Mark was an incredibly talented international cycling photographer who passed away at the young age of 41 as a result of oesophageal cancer. His wife has partnered with CyclingTips to launch the awards in her husbands name: https://cyclingtips.com/2016/12/the-first-annual-mark-gunter-photography-awards/
Contacting PANYNJ
I have registered a written complaint with PA of NY&NJ regarding the lack of maintenance of the GWB path. The ever-growing shards of glass, not only on the NY side ramp, but throughout the bridge now, plus all the large car parts (fenders, etc) thrown over the divider after traffic accidents, seems to just lay in the pathway and never get cleaned up. One of the most offensive areas is the filth on the sidewalk as one enters from the NY side (on 178th St), which seems to grow each day. I would urge and encourage others to register a written (email) complaint on the website as well. If they receive many, possibly someone will take notice.
